Left 4 Dead Public Demo Released

I have this funny habit of shooting team mates point blank with a shotgun if they sneak up on me...

...but I'm getting this weird white/rainbow texture bug (despite updating textures and changing settings), and it looks like theres a long thread of other people with the same issue, but not solution.

If it isn't fixed by demo end, then I'm not buying hte game unless they do another demo to show me that it doesnt look like buggy crap on my computer.

Awesome demo, and ran much better on my puter than I expected, no slow-down whatsoever on medium settings which is good enough for me. Played it through a few times with a mate who's also anticipating it, quite a bit of fun. May just have to scratch together some money for this somehow (TOO MANY ****ING GAMES ARGH).

For anyone worried about it being too difficult online, don't. Normal mode was easy as piss... unless you're playing with idiots I guess. It's only the first two chapters of one of the campaigns, so it's not going to get too hectic just yet anyway.

Fantastic demo. Ran very well on my machine. And the promotion of team play makes for enjoyable rounds.

Definitely pre-purchasing this. I hope a pre-load is included with it (considering that it's a Valve title).

I'm glad to see that they included a single-player option, though the AI could definitely use some improvements.

Really enjoyed this. Went through first on singleplayer, then joined an online game. And I'm glad I'm not the only one that is accidently shooting teammates, lol!

Also, it ran alot better than I expected, with only a few hiccups. All things considered, I'm very tempted at buying the game.

Also, I'll probably try out the singleplayer mode first to get used to everything, so I don't embarress myself online. I really don't want to hear "gtfo, noob!"

I meant usin singleplayer mode just to get used to the gameplay. And yeah, the AI sucks so SP isn't any fun.

decent demo but im not blown away. makes a nice change to play with strangers and find them coming actually back for team members who get left behind, healing you if youve just been set upon by a load of zombies and generally just sticking together as theres more of a chance to win that way.

tried 360 and PC demos, but couldnt really decide which i preferred. that said my PC crashed in the middle of one game and i accidently dumped myself back to the desktop mid shoot-out because of my sodding windows key. though none of that is the PC versions fault... i guess im just getting too used to consoles gaming

as dirty as it makes me feel to say it i think i enjoy 'Horde Mode' on Gears of War 2 more than this :O

Waited all week until the weekend to play this. But unfortunately there were all sorts of joining game errors. Lobby stuff. blah blah blah. I couldn't get into a game at all so ended up playing single player just to get somewhere

I didn't really like it. Great for the console market though, which is a huge market.

I actually preferred the CS:S zombie mod more. I like my zombies with gigantic health but a critical soft spot that requires tremendous skill to hit. The L4D zombies seem to drop like flies at the first sign of a bullet. I also really hated the fact that they sprint at you. I like my zombies to jog or walk at a slow canter groaning for brains or just groaning, and the sheer weight of numbers ends up being your downfall rather than their speed.

Too much like "I am legend" infected. Fast, super fast.

My preconceptions for this game were all wrong. As such, i am underwhelmed.

I was also really put off by the trouble joining the game.

Valve should extend the demo for another week for the poor sods like me, give me another shot i might like it.

Quick questions
- Is there any map in broad daylight in an open field where you have to retreat to some kind of helms deep, starship troopers like cul de sac?
- Are there machine guns with bipods/tripods? Or can you find them around the map pre-mounted that you press E to use like in call of duty?
- Is there a map where all 4 of you ride on a car through a street or field and everyone is shooting their guns and zombies and stuff?
- Can you set up traps for zombies like in half-life 2?
- Why is the black guy so boring? We have tatoo arm man, old general type man, sexy girl man (girl) and .....black guy in a shirt. Wow, at least cut his arm off so he is 1 armed black guy in a shirt.
- Can you convert the witch zombie in the intro movie into a slave girl and have sex with her?
- The zombies are in fact, infected. Is it morally wrong to kill people who are simply sick?
- Can the infection spread to sharks? Are there any maps with water that has infected sharks in them?
