As for demographics Gh0st, I'd say that at least 70%-80% of votes will be for liberal, unless all the conservatives only post in polls or something.

I lean towards being a Liberal but there's a lot that I don't agree with thats on the left. Im not a Conservative either. I don't believe in belonging to any one political party.

I would call myself right of center. I'm a conservative definately, about manythings, but almost equally more liberal minded about other things as well, such as gun control, nuclear weapons, etc.

I can be very strong in the views that I do have that are more right wing, so some people might consider me extremely right wing, but its simply not the case.

I understand that, but I still don't believe the poll. By their posts, the majority of posters on this board are at least a little left wing, if not radically. So I don't believe there are more centrists and right-wingers then left wingers.

That is simply becuase left wing people like to think that anything right of them is conservative. Center is mix of conservative and liberal, left liberal, right conservative. People commonly say that extreme left is socialist/communist, and extreme right is facist, but that is actually incorrect as communism/facism exist on the up/down axis, not left/right.

US democrats and republicans are usually fairly centrist parties with a hot button issue to the left or the right respectively.

Extreme Right = Social Authoritarian
Right = Conservative
Center = Moderate
Left = Liberal
Extreme Left = Socialist

That is simply becuase left wing people like to think that anything right of them is conservative. Center is mix of conservative and liberal, left liberal, right conservative. People commonly say that extreme left is socialist/communist, and extreme right is facist, but that is actually incorrect as communism/facism exist on the up/down axis, not left/right.

Each label relies on a certain degree on both axis. Communism/socialism relies on a high authoritarian up and down Y axis, but it isn't communism without it's extremely left economic X axis.

Conservatives and Liberals can also depend on where you're from, too. Russian conservatives tend to be communists. Arab conservatives tend to be hardcore religious fanatics.


Personally, I am a right winger. On the political compass I am far right on the economic X scale, I support economic freedom very much so. On the Y up and down scale, I'm about in the middle, people need freedom, which is why I oppose things such as gun control or forced movement, etc.
