Lighting in Hammer...

Hey, Ive used the editor for HL1 so I kinda know my way around hammer. I cant seem to get any of the different kind of light entities to work.... I run my map, I make sure Vis, and Bsp are running, but the map is still fully lit. The lights have no effect on the map. I was just wondering... maybe im forgetting some parimeter.

Anyways, If you know maybe what this prob is, please post!
 
In the compile box under 'RAD' make sure it isn't set to 'no'.
 
Ok, what about Vis? should they all be enabled and set to normal?
It just seems that every time I compile, no matter what, my maps are extreemly bright with absolutly no shadows, or darkness...

Also, I was wondering, what is the difference between the light, and dynamic light...? I know that a dynamic would probably point in a cone shape like a dynamic cardiod mic, but what about just plain light?
