ROFL, thats a great one. I need to remember that line in case I ever have that problem.

Seriously, does it still say "windows is shutting down" in its typical blue screen? Or does the screen go black and not turn off?

Well these are nothing more than wild guesses really but he could try flipping the power supply's switch off and back on. Or possibly taking the ram out and re-inserting it, but I doubt that one would matter.

... Switch the power on the back off. Hold it off for 10-15 seconds... Switch it back on. Try again.

Doesn't work?

If it was struck by lightning my guess is that most of the comp is fried, but it still responds. Therefor, take out everything and test ONE PIECE at a time to see what's not working and what is.

well, it says he says it just restarts, ill have him look at this thread in a while

try taking the mobo battery out, thats the little disk at the bottom. take care though, screw that over and you can have a large paper weight lol. anyway, leave it out for a good 20 mins. then, put it back in and try starting it up.

it might work, but im just grabbing straws atm. try everything you can think of.

are there any beeps or anything? if not, then a circuit could've blown.

Ah, im glad i have a surge protector! :)
Why? I hope your not expecting that to protect your equipment if lightning strikes.

Edit: fixed title typo.

This might sound really obvious but whats the power button set for under the bios.

You have set it so that when you press the button the system powers down immeditely or you can have it set where to turn the system off you have to hold the button down for 10 seconds.
