Limit song playing?

Im a guitar player and i recently stumbled upon a new software program called guitar guru which shows you how to play songs and lets you adjust the tempo and range of the song that is played (anywhere from 1 second to the whole song). Problem is that the songs are a tad limited at the moment and also quite expensive considering there are multiple free tab sites

What i am asking (to get to the point at last) is, is there any program that you can play a sound file with and select only a couple of seconds of the song to be played and looped. I am hoping to find one so that i can learn songs in parts without having to keep fidgeting with the computer to rewind and find parts.

You could use Audacity then just cut up any mp3s you have.

So you might cut out a solo from a song, then open it in Winamp and stick it onto repeat.

i was thinking audacity but was hoping to be able to avoid having to record. My mic has been a bit messed up of late - Thanks.
