Linkin Park where are thou ?

Haha, Linkin Park. Oh well, to each his own. I'd definitely say there's better music out there though. A lot better.

Subsititute "Linkin Park" in that picture for "Punk Rock"

Linkin Park is tight and maybe try listening to it when your mad and really loud. They have tight beats and their lyrics are catchy.

Hybrid theory was great. i saw them live when that was out... but they went right downhill... a long long way downhill and have made crap ever since... i mean, remixes of their first album was their second album... hmm, how about some new even better material guys?
Oh well, another band that lost the plot and was never seen or heard of again....

Hybrid Theory was and is, my favorite album. Meteora is generic and watered down, pretty much poo compared to the first album. Mike can rap with the best of them, download "Rock and Roll Could never Hip-Hop like this part 2", "Its going down" "And One" "Fuse" "STick n Move". He is an amazing lyric writter, just doesnt show it on meteora, or hybrid that much when it comes to rap. Anything linkin park does without their producer Don Gilmore is great, anything with, like Meteora, comes out pop. Mike and Chester have alot of talents and are very gifted, but i cant say much about their guitarist

Look. I don't think it's "cool" to hate any band, but I'd have to say that Linkin' Park is one of the worst bands I've ever heard. I like a LOT of music, (classic, metal, funk, some rap, jazz, etc), so I'm not dismissing LP as crap just because it's a certain genre. The problem is, there's no substance. It's all pure angst, marketed for teenage kids who feel like they're the most tragically misunderstood people in the world. The lyrics seem deep at first, but when you actually think about them, you realize they simply SOUND that way.
example:
"crawling in my skin
these wounds they will not heal
fear is how I fall
confusing what is real"

Linkin' Park, among oh-so many other popular bands of today, were created simply to make money. To anyone looking for good stuff, I would recommend the following:

Rock:
Rage Against the Machine, RHCP, The Mooney Suzukie, The Shins, Tool, Interpol, and many others

Classic Rock:
Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Clapton, the Who, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson, etc.

Rap/Hip Hop:
anything underground

Funk:
whatever sounds good

Where's your other styles...? :p

And how is Interpol rock...? It's like so similar to Joy Division (Love 'em both, not what I'm getting at) and i wouldn't call Joy Division rock.

American mainstream music sucks alltogether.

I listen to it as distraction and entertainment. You guys should stop arguing about this crap.

Didn't their name used to be Hybrid Theory until they realized that they'd get more exposure if they changed it to Linkin Park so they could sit in the same section with Limb Bizkit?

It was already copyrighted actually.

They used the name Linkin Park, (besides being forced to due to copyright reasons) because there was a lincoln park in almost every other city in the US, and they thought it would be funny if people could think they were a local band. Odd sense of humour, I know.

In response to Javes' entry...
I define rock as anything that relies mainly on guitar, drums, bass and vocals, and also sounds good and plays for the love of it. Hence, Interpol= rock. Oh, and I had to get stuff done, so I couldn't expand on Rap or Funk, but lemme think...

Rap:
Insight, Gang Starr, Jedi Mind Tricks, Mr. Lif, Run DMC, Talib Kweli, Jurassic 5, Del (and all of his groups), Ozomatli... that's all I can think of right now.

Funk:
Sam and Dave, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, the Spinners (kind of), Tower of Power, Stevie Wonder, Robert Randolph (kind of rock also, though), Jamiroquai, Dirtbomb (sort of), Cameo, and whatever.

whew.

hell yes he does. I'm not a big rap head, but I love it for just chilling to. On the other hand, give me some good metal/hard rock, and I'll hesh it up. Iron Maiden is so good, it drives me insane.

Man I just love the reaction people get when they say they like any semi-popular to popular band on these forums.

They suck and should Eat shit and Die!
I hate them
I want to rape them for making such bad music

COME ON, Just because you dont like a band doesn't mean anyone wants to hear your view on how bad they suck. Or at least put some thought in it.

Oh well this is the internet and thats what the "cool internet kids"(ahahaha) like to do, tear everything down.

I think that you're a ****ing hypocrite for posting this.

I dont care what you think

whoever posted that pic, it was pretty funny. its great cause you could really sub in almost any genre or band and it still can make sense.

Wasn't linkin park going to break up anyway? I am not really sure as I am not a big fan.

I tend to filter out the lyrics in songs myself, so I just end up listening to the voice rather than the words. And let me tell ya, Chester Bennington can really sing. :) I guess that's why I can stomach even Limp Bizkit sometimes...

Yes?
And what's wrong with them?
They don't scream like idiots.
I don't find their music suicide-inducing at all.
But, Linkin Park, is like music that serial killers listen to.
I find Evanescence rather soothing to listen to.
Oh...right right...
It's the cool thing to hate Evanescence nowadays.
Calling Amy Lee a poser and everything...
But, What exactly is she posing?
She never said "Yeah...I'm totally goth."
Hell, I wouldn't classify her as goth at all.
She's...Amy Lee.
But, Seeing as I'm going off into a tangent here, I'll be quiet.

For one Linkin Park isn't some death metal (I don't like them though)

Metallica is much much heavier stuff than Evanescence yet Metallica is still 1000 times better than them. If you don't belive me see Enter Sandman or The Unforgiven. BTW I haven't even started on Fear Factory yet.

Indid, HCester is a great singer, he would kill if he was in alter bridge.

Hybrid Theory was OK, but i like ZZ Top! Stick with the classics, most of them have something constructive to say. I am 15, and i really don't identify with the sucidal, misunderstood "teenagers."

These aforementioned teens were created to open a new market, most of the people i know are actually really upbeat vs. the outcast sh*t.
Metallica is good, but i greatly dislike Unforgiven, if you listen to the lyrics, they say the same thing over and over again (the intro was good though) My favorite Metalica song has got to be Blitzkrieg. Master of Puppets is good too.

I'm saying that you didn't put any thought into your post, either. You just flamed someone because they disagreed with you or the starter of the thread.
They have a right to say whoever should "Eat shit and die", and you have the right to complain about it.

But that's just complaining about complaining. Which makes you a hypocrite.

You can't deny Enter Sandman though

Damnit, you people are being frickin' retarded. It's simple; you either like the music, or you do not. Now, don't hold me to this (Because I'm not trying to evade any forms of obvious logic here) but when a thread is made about a band, isn't it 90% assumable that it's about the bands music, not about the actual band? Ofcourse, assumption is the mother of all ****-ups. I don't care if Chester is gay, or Mike isn't black but still raps, I really don't. If I like the music, I'll listen to it. You think the band is there to just make money? Fine, but do you like the music? No? Then don't listen, and be off on your day. Yes? Then buy their album, and listen to it.

*Unpauses New Millenium Cyanide Christ*

thank you top secret...thats the point i try to get across to people ALL the time but they never listen...Many people say 'if you like the music, well and good' but often they dont mean it and you will find them saying...that band is gay or its crap, etc, etc, etc.

If you like it...listen to it, no matter what it is.

The only Linkin Park I like is the stuff they did with Jay Z.

Sorry but it's true.

Linkin park is well known for being apauling I don't really need to say any more. Oh and stop accusing Punk rock of being crap :(, stop listening to teh emo and listen to The clash, Bad religion, The sex pistols and other quality punk bands

Its kinda weird because with every cd that comes out, a remix follows. But that collision course crap just made me wanna throw up. WTF were u thinkin Linkin :frown:
