lipsync online?

I remember reading somewhere that there's lip synchronizing directly from sound files. Could it be implemented in-game, and when you speak to a headmike in an online game, it'll do lipsync in real time? that could be very cool.

I heard that It will do liypsync when you use voicecomm but It will fake someone talking since It doesn't actually know what words you are saying.

Not without a big latency... and most voice communications are like "KRGg! Ggghsshhsg fhhughck yhoughgsss!!!" so I don't think it would look any good.

since CS:S is out there, maybe someone can test it and show us some results

i kind of expect it to the real the lipsync.Laggy of course.

HL2 will use special files with lip movement hints connected to the sound.

The engine is also capabale of trying to guess correct lip movement for things like voicecomm or other sound files, but it won't appear as polished as with the hints.

This could be hilarious if it worked in CS:S, but with lag! It would be like watching (and listening) to a badly dubbed japanese fight movie! I am sure I would die often from laughing too hard!
