Just thought i'd starta thread for all the less skilled new players to CS and tell them a few truicks of the trade.. so anyone got any little ideas??

1. Crouching improves accuracy

there ya go :D:D a starter :cheese:

Burst fire is all important. Close range you can go all out, middle-range (Let's say from right T exit to tunnels to the CT sniper post on de_dust) you can do 1-3 burst shots, and Long range (Long A on de_dust2) 1 shot bursts.

Also learn that pistols are as fast as knives while running, and scouts are faster than them. So scouts > all.

Oh and the most important lesson: Point and shoot. think about that everytime you see an enemy and you'll get headshots like anything.

True about scouts > knifes at running speed ?

When someone is shooting you from in front. Jump out, shoot them. And if they don't get hit. Retreat. A teammate will finish them off, or if your lucky you might be able to catch him out and rape him ;)

Deagles. My god does no one understand deagles? From what I watch in every Deagle5 map, no one knows how to use this poorly understood hand cannon.

The Deagle is not your Glock. It's a high powered handgun, and thus you lose a LOT of ammo and accuracy if you fire the weapon as fast as you can. There should be about a 1s pause in between each shot unless you're touching the guy. Also, the Deagle's fairly accurate on those first shots, so always aim for the head if possible. Unarmored target, it takes 2 shots to the torso for a kill. Armored, 3. If you hit him in the head, helmet or not, it's an instant kill.

Also, when you are using ANY SMG- never. Stop. Running. You spot someone, start strafing, sprinting, breakdancing, something. Most people suck and can't hit moving targets with the netcode, so you can rush two people and manage to walk out unscathed.

- Meet the enemy on your terms, if you're going to rush make sure that you either get there before they can set up a good defense or (and this is the preferable option) flank them. There are few things greater than the sight of 5 CTs with their back turned to you when you're a T that's just flanked them. If you play defense don't just stand around, find a good spot and use it to your advantage. Some spots are overused though and if you aren't the quickest shot you'll be gunned down pretty quickly though so sometimes the lesser used spots are better.

- Don't use flashbangs. DON'T USE FLASHBANGS unless you know how to use them. A miss-thrown flashbang can make your own team mates hate you ten times more than any enemy ever could.

- Play to your weapons strengths. If you have a long range weapon go to areas where you'll be far from the enemy. Short range, hide around corners and the such and jump out when enemies are close... etc.. etc..

- Play to your own strengths. You know what you're good at so use it but that doesn't mean you shouldn't...

- Practice, not just what you're good at but also expand on to new things. Be a well rounded player, not just a one trick pony.
