So what are the main changes then? I remember that damage was slated to be implemented, but I haven't heard anything about that for ages so I guess not.

There is damage! It's totally kick-ass. I just slammed my car into a wall and crumpled the front totally.

I'm having problems with my joypad config though, it's always veering slightly to the right. Hopefully fixed in the next version.

The demo is, the full game isn't... but it's very cheap because you buy it from the internet and download it.

I didnt like it but thats my opinion, probably too realistic for me and took too long to learn.

It's built from the ground up to be a racing simulator ... the physics are second to none. Almost every aspect of the tyres/wheels/suspension/drivetrain/transmission/engine is configurable on all the cars, and accurately modelled by the engine in the game.

It's possible to play with mouse/keyboard/joypad but obviously the makers reccommend a racing wheel and pedals for the true realistic racing experience.

It's far from a consoley arcade game, so if that's what you're looking for, just don't bother downloading it. This is for hardcore drivers

Gran Turismo is unrealistic, this is realllllllllll.

Even if you Don't buy the full S2, the demo servers will always be populated, at least that's what it was like for S1. Except that way you'll only get 3 cars and 1 track to play on.
