Loading takes 4eva

hay guys i got HL2 this morning and it like takes 10 mins to load. i meat the recomended reqs and i used to have it and it ran really good...but now its just dodgy...if anyone knows of any reason itd be totaly kik ass... ty

If you type -console in the properties, you don't load the backround, and the loading is reduced.

Have you tried defragmenting your hard drive?
Diskeeper
Diskeeper is a program that defragments your hard drive (Defragment = Put all the files back together, because big files can be scattered around, which gives longer loading times and sometimes stuttering) .
Download it and run it a few times. It should go a bit faster now.

Defragging your hard drive will help (you should do it once a month) most likely. Unless you have a very slow processor in that case I would recommend an upgrade.

but we definitly need your specs if you want any real help.

ok im not exactly sure what the names are but i have

128 mb radeon 9200 i think
2ghz pentium 4
512mb ram
and about 90gb of hd space
(it runs counter strike source fine tho)

ok lol im defragging now and it was like 89% of files on c was fraged and 48% on my D was fraged....i wonder if that was the problem
