I've only played an hour and so far this is one of the best games I've ever played. It reminds me of Half Life 1 but with better graphics and different storyline, lol I guess thats why its Half Life 2. Anyway I'm having one small problem.
The game runs great in 1600x1200 on my PC. Everything is smooth, even during battle. However, it seems to lag for a second or two whenever a sound or something new is introduced into the game. Kind of seems like it is hanging for half a second while something is being loaded into RAM, for the main part, sounds, but I don't know if its stricly sounds. At least thats what I'd describe it as. Once that sound or room, whatever, is loaded, it goes back to running fine. I have 768 mb of RAM so I didn't think I would experience a problem like this. It doesn't matter if I'm in 800x600 or 1600x1200, so it's definately a load issue, not something to do with graphics.
Is this what I read in another thread about audio stuttering and the patch that will be released? I would say the audio kind of stutters when loading a sound, but it seems once I've heard the sound it doesn't lag up again. For example, if I haven't been in a fight recently, soon as bullets start shooting, the sound and video starts getting all jumpy, but once its loaded, everything will go fine. Also seemed to happen at the beginning of the game whenever that guy on the screen would be talking, it would lag/freeze for a second while it loads what he was going to say next.
Is there a way to get the game to load more into RAM of what will be upcoming? Is there a way to let the game know I have 768 mb? I can't imagine having less RAM as it would seem that would cause an even bigger problem than I'm already having.
