I just finished playing through the level. Although it was short (as expected) the gameplay was great. I liked the cliff fighting as it was different from the flat land in most of HL2, the combine soldiers jumping off the cliffs and blowing through the doors was also great. It made them seem like a sort of SWAT team. I would say it was definately worth the download even for people who cant run HDR.

The game runs well even on systems below spec. If you have a slightly slower processor or less ram it should still run fine.

The HDR is amazing along with the extra high resolution textures and models. The fisherman also looks great. Ill post some pics later.

I suggest playing it once through and then turning on the commentary and going through it again. It is a good half hour or so if you dont just wizz through it twice. Can't wait for more HDR goodness in future titles (and CSS)!

I got my new rig last week so im runing it at full, ill just finish playing through it now:D

And post screens people!

Best part for me was the monastery music, and all the development info (it's nice to know).

It was good. I liked the commentary especially.

Graphics are amazing! The only way to show these shots are in 1600x1200 at 8xAA 16xAF!

The graphics were even better than I expected.

Source is simply incredible, truly next-gen stuff.

*jaw drop*

omg ! that rox ! , im downloading it right now cant wait

the game seemed alot shorter than 15min but it was ok.... for a showoff level lots of things look more specular now

Last screens I'm posting. I love the concept of better graphics and more gameplay for free! I bought HL2 and just keep getting more! This is the best $50 I have ever spent.

God everything looks so realistic :O
I'm going to e-mail Gabe telling him how much his company rocks

Servers are too busy for me to download right now. ;(
Guess I will have to wait until tommorow to see how my rig can handles this. Although im guessing it won't handle it all that well considering its not all that powerful anymore.

Damn, all that looks awesome. I think I'm still going to wait until I get my new computer so I can run it at a high potential.

Very impressed with this release. My average pc handled it bloody nicely to what i was expecting, great stuff.

Great Scott!! Time to download this.... Looks very good!

Got it installed, havn't actually played it properly yet, it was running at around 30 + fps with 1280 x 1024, all high, HDR full, 4x AA, 8X AF,but it still went perfectly smooth, im extremely impressed by that, thought it would go horrid on those settings with that fps, guess i was wrong.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. it was short but very sweet. the combat was fairly intense, especially in the church with the combine troop raid. It reminded me a lot of the cliff-side level from the original half-life. Only problem I encountered was after the first quick-load, my game had the "jesus bug" where the corpses would stand straight up with the arms pointing out to their sides, and they didn't respond to being prodded by the crowbar and you could walk right through them.

Just finished playing it. Cool little map. I sure did get shot alot on hard setting. When i died once all the dead combine were floating in the air when i respawned. Guess Valve let this little error slip by.

Everything looks great. I was playing it on 1152x864 with 2x AA and 4x AF. I prob averaged around 40 fps.

Oh yeah looking at those screenies prompted my memory of those combine soldiers abseiling down in front of me, which scared me shitless! Is that a new thing, or was it in HL2? I haven't played it in a long time, but it was impressive! Oh and the hunter chopper crashing right into the platform breaking off the wood, that was good too!

Well, I played through about half of it then I realized HL2 crashes every few minutes because of the updates. It crashed and I said **** you valve.

yea i played it, and at the end when you go down in the thing, right before i got to the bottom it froze :(

i was eatin alive by tadpoles about 45 seconds in the first time i played.

and to those of you who are having the game crash you need to update your drivers, especialy if your using Nvidia 81.84, that driver has a big problem with lost coast

You get to see some Combine artillery. That's about it in terms of story.

Amazing graphics , i hope they update HL2 to look like that ^^

For some damn odd reason it's taking it nearly to hours to update to play. What's the reason behind this??

Probably has to do with updating 80,000 or so people at the one time. I suspect close there's alot more of steam users out there, but i'd say thats about the average of how many people are on Steam at once. Jsut guessing though

Well I just finished, the fishermans last words struck me..."Your getting all fuzzy around the edges"...Gman?

Ran it from 30 to 60 fps with everything turned on at the highest settings at 1920x1200. Looks sharp! The cliff edge made my legs weak.
