Local Council Elections

Yeah, but the Daily Mail isn't a newspaper, it's a hatred rag.
The Telegraph, whilst it is generally speaking a more conservative paper, a far more intelligent publication than that piece of shit.

It's about as crap to be honest.

Ah yes, what you want to read is Socialist News. Definitely NO agenda there.

It doesn't spread needless hate.

Can you back up your implication that The Independant does then?

I said the telegraph.
And I can. The courtcase Gallowayv Telegraph
Winner=Galloway

Yeah, sure, he did win that, but Galloway never actually proved that what they were accusing him of wasn't true:

Daily Telegraph published an article describing documents found by its reporter David Blair in the ruins of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry. The documents purport to be records of meetings between Galloway and Iraqi intelligence agents, and state that he had received £375,000 per year from the proceeds of the Oil for Food programme.

...

The issue of whether the documents were genuine was likewise not at issue at the trial. Each side had tried to get some independent confirmation that they were genuine (the Telegraph) or were not (Galloway). The Telegraph hired Ibrahim Marashi, the author of the so-called second "dodgy dossier", to verify the documents. In his opinion they were genuine, although this has never been verified in court.

He still won.
You've never proven that your not a terrorist, does that make you one?

Nobody's claiming I am one, with proof to support that claim though. Unless you're going to. Then, y'know, good luck with that.

I don't want to debate the whole oil for food thing. I don't belive it, and it's going to massively sidetrack us.

I still want Mr. Stabby to say why Respect are as bad as the BNP. He's really doing a bad job at this.

No it's not. Considering the prevailing direction of discussion, it's not a sidetrack whatsoever. Explaining away his involvement (or lack thereof) in the oil for food program would prove your point that Galloway is an ok guy and that the Teleraph are a bunch of mean fibbers.
Saying "it's going to massively sidtrack us" seems just like trying to wave away a problem you can't argue against.

badness isn't measured on racism, it's on how much they **** up the country, I have highlighted the niave unworkable policies, you are to ignorant to accept the flaws

It's not about what they do to the country, it's about the people.

Did you know the BNP leader, Nick Griffin keeps two pigs, one named Ann, one named Frank.

Respect would not harm the people, it's policies would save our troops from Iraq, improve our public transport, better our schools, and alot more.

Respect is a 1 issue party - they are a fringe party and thank god for that.

Galloway is an utter twat - he's a good speaker, but an utterly rephrensible person.

Not really, they've got views on a number of things, look at their policies at www.respectcoallition.org

And none of them are workable in the setting of the UK.

Nationalising the railways isn't workable?

They aren't bloody social clubs, they intend on running the country, its about policies, not the people

You misunderstood. What they do to the country is irrelavant, it's the qualitity of life for the people thats important, and this would be a dam site better than under the BNP.

Do you not think crippling the economy may have an adverse effect on peoples lives

To be fair to Solaris, a lot of criticisms being levelled at Respect atm - ie. that they're never going to get in power so it gives them the freedom to create unrealistic policies - are the same ones that are often directed at the Lib Dems. It doesn't mean the Lib dems are in any way comparable to the BNP.

And how will they cripple th economy. A proper explanation if you will, not just : Becuase the policies are unworkable or something like that. Why won't they work?

It's hard to get a full understanding of respect's economic policy, as they don't seem to have one

I was however able to find

- "to renationalise the railways, gas, electricity and water industries",
Privatisation leads to competition for customers, as a result prices go down, under nationalisation the government can decide the price.

-full state pension for all- sounds great, but the country can't afford it, especially with the economic recess other policies will cause

- I have already mentioned, the climate change tax, will drive industry away from Britain - job loses

- Increased trade union power, scares off multinational investment

- heavier taxation of industry, drives them abroad

- increase tax on higher earners- drive down consumer spending

There is no socialist Holy Grail to sort out the recessions they would impose

so many parties in britain, so confusing! my american brain can only count to two!! *implodes*
