Locked server setting up(Need Help)

I know this sounds silly but I tried to set up a server with a locked password for me and my buddy to practice on. I gave it a password in the 'Create Server' menu and entered it. However, my friend couldn't find it on his 'Find Servers'. He filtered it to Europe and the particular map we were going to play but it didn't show up. It looks simple but obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone just give me a bit of guidance on what I should be doing. I only want to use basic parameters so it should be easy to do.

Think I've sussed a way. The console shows my IP so I can just give my buddy the info. I'll try that.

Did you remember to do sv_lan 0 in the console?

just type in status in your console and copy the ip and port
