LOL, Valve (Or error)

So I downloaded Episode 1 and went to go decompile the sound files and I found a few of them with the title "Train" and a few others. Now I'm not the type to think such things, but after listening to them, I think valve accidental gave me episode 2's first level sound files. Why do I think this? because some of them are labeled "Bridge" with Alyx saying "GORDON!" like in the preview, and another titled bridge with her saying " Oh no it's sucking everything through"(like when the bridge was breaking apart if the preview of EP2) another strikingly odd one is titled "Train_Aftermath" with her saying "well i guess our train is gone". a few others are a dialog called "al_train_ride01" and "al_train_ride02" were it would seem they are talking as the train escapes. well its certainly is weired,*Incoming Spoiler* but by the "sound" of it, Alyx survives. Mabye you should all see if it happened to you in your EP1 sound files. Very funny though, a few cut out dialogs are included.

Umm, is it possible that you're looking in the folder with all the files for the trailer that automatically comes with EP1, I mean, maybe all these files are there because they are needed to play the trailer... whatever you do, don't mess with them!!!
 
no man, the trailer is a movie, with fixed audio files incorperated into the film. no audio files needed. infact, if you go into ep1's folder, you can watch the trailer externally. but yea, I dont plan on editing them, because way back in the original hl2, i found ep1 sounds also. so these files may be there purely to save until ep2. an update! i found another called "antlion maggot squish" or somthing, were its the sound of one of those maggot antlion babies being squished. lol, squished.
 
Easier than posting them, just tell us the folder path these files are in inside the gcf.
 
Or post them indeed for those who doesn't have EpOne in their current PCs :) )

"Oh no it's sucking everything through" reminds me that vortex weapon someone found a few months ago. Maybe they were going to use that line if they had used the weapon in game. I'm kinda remember hearing "Well I guess our train is gone" during Ep One.
 
well any who, extract the episode 1 content using some tool and look in the folder clearly labled Sound.

New Find:
Folder called advisor has the combine advisor's voce in it. THEIR LEPRACONIC LIZARDS! listen for them yourself!

There is quite a bit of EP2 content. There is references to antlion grubs, a skin for a blue antlion guard and I think a bit of code for the hybrid (car).
 
The Advisor sounds in the Episode 1 Shared content GCF are in Episode 1 indeed, not just 'eggs' for Episode 2. They're played after the advisor pod first launches, early in the game, and same when they go over head at the end..

I also found what appears to be the data on the data stick Gordon and Alyx recovered..Look in sounds/ambient/citadel for a prefix DataTrans
 
I don't have EP1 on my computer right now...can you please PM me and tell me what's on the stick?
 
It's too garbled to hear..It just cuts in and out, and sounds like they said some things, and reversed it, added a few more effects and stuff..

Right now I'm reversing and decoding the sound file..I'll get back to you if I find anything...
 
yea, i found that this morning, i just realised that its from the stick after you said so. reversing some of them does clear out a little i hear "****their **oming***elp**us" or perhapse, their soming! someone help us!

Words in parenthesis are words that either aren't clear, or actions.

That one sounds like a character dieing maybe? I wasn't too sure about it, but [eff] and [shh] are just weird sounds, not actual words..I reversed bits and pieces inside of it, rather than the entire thing, and eventually came up with that..I also slowed down the rate, to make it more drawn out and audible..
 
Oh me, oh my, No kidding my fvcking arse, this IS interresting! Too bad I don't have ep1 installed on the pc I'm writing this post on right now...Gebus, I'm gonna check tomorrow once possible...meh, I didn't believe there was to be spoilers still coming up prior to the ep2 release...hey, might VALVe have intended the player to find the data, hence it's unusefullness, like the gman_mumble??0.0
Ps: in the closed captions of ep1, Alyx also mentions 'take down those rpgs!' and stuff, clearly pointing out, that there might have been combines using rpgs. Obviously.
 
I was thinking that as well..Another piece to the puzzle? Maybe they're snickering at us going, "Pfft, they JUST found that?"

Where did you find these? I keep searching for them in the GCF's, but I can't find them... Can you tell me their exact locaiton, please?

It was announced as Feburary? Woohoo! Last I heard was Q1 2007

Anyway I would listen to these myself but I don't have Ep1 installed either, although thanks for what you guys have done! :thumbs:
 
Remember that Episode Two won't be the first time we've encountered a Train or a Bridge:

The "sucking" sounds more like the vortex on that long energy bridge in the Citadel in Episode One. So it may simply be cut dialogue.

Remember the Stalker cart? Alyx could quite easily have said this after that crash instead.

edit: if the sounds are in sounds/citadel, shouldn't that be indication enough that they're not from Episode Two?
 
sure. But we're more ambitious about dataTransMale files...
 
well i still say their from EP2. some i wish not to say least i give away somthing are very well in place with EP2. Alyx lives though. well I'm off to modding my ww3 mod.:sniper:

I don't remember where I heard it, but originally Alyx and Gordon missed the first train out of the city, they did not decide to take another train, they just missed it.

And then they found another train which they had to make a run for. It that would be true, that sentence would fit in perfectly there.
 
Wah, where the heck are all the HL2:Episode 1 sound files? I can't find them anywhere... looked in Episode One pack, but can't see 'em.
 
you're using gvf scape, aren't cha? Then you have to look for ambience files once you found the sound pack.. wiata sec..episode one shared/episodic/sound/ambient/levels/citadel, that's where the weird transmission data is

Is this in D: (or C:)\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps? I don't have an Half-Life 2 Episode One Shared.gcf. I've got an Half-Life 2 Episode One.gcf, and a Half-Life 2 Episode one teaser 1, 2, and launch teaser 3, 4, and a Half-Life 2 Episode One trailer.gcf, but no Half-life 2 episode one shared.gcf.

What gives?

Didn't Alyx say the "It's sucking everything through" line near the energy bridge in the citadel? I clearly remember seeing it.
 
the "GORDON!" shout entitled bridge is probably when she screams your name if you fall off the ledge of the Citadel in the beggining of EP1.
 
There we go, the "mysterious episode 2 sounds" explained, so let's concentrate on those weird other things.
 
hm, i remember while pre-loading ep1, i looked through the gcf files and i saw some gman-speech files that were never in the game, i can only remember one named "gman-laugh"

there were about 9 files, but the laugh one is the only one i remember seeing ;p
