god it's so depressing, yesterday a 22 year old father was shot in the chest and died in front of his fiance and 3 year old boy, an entire family - mother and three young children were bludgeoned to death, a boy was held down and stabbed repeatedly in the neck, two australian/new zealend men are soon to be exacuted in the middle east...

i guess with a population of 7 million that's not so bad, but sometimes it really makes you wonder about where the world is going. i think on the whole people are good, but god london news is so depressing.

it's a good thing you don't have to watch Ulster news then

I used to live in London.

A man was shot dead in the street in front of our house.
Our Neighbour hanged himself.
Rounf the corner someone had a car with no wheels in their gardenm the gate was boltlocked shut. One time they woke up and it was gone, the only plausable explanation was that someone came along in a crane and took it.
We had a painting we wanted to get rid of, we put it on the doorstep, walked to the shop and came back and it was gone.

edit:

Lol QFT, my dad always watched it on sky.

where is Ulster. i imagine big american city's have pretty awful news what with all the gun crime too. seriously, guns kill people, just make them illegal. i guess youd never get the guns off the streets now though, there must be billions just floating around.

Ulster basically is Northern Ireland and 3 other counties.

Singapore doesnt allow guns... Its Much Safer Here(Where did i hear that phrase?)

News tends to be awful, that's how it sells. I wouldn't say that it's become significantly worse than it has been.

Although 100 years ago it would have been "The Raj have burned downed the villages of dissenting Indian villagers and massacred them. God Bless Great Britain!"

You never read "Neighbour does kind deed for old age gentlemen" because that's pretty boring.

They beat you with canes if you do anything wrong.

It's like a Numbers' paradise.

I'd quite like it. It's not as if I'm going to break their laws.

And if I did, I'd always have the S&M fetish to fall back on :O

I fail to see how that item has anything to do with London tbh.

In other -more cheerful- London news;
Dozens of protesters have been flooding police with requests to demonstrate about issues ranging from the Iraq war to "Goth Pride".
Those filing into Charing Cross police station say a new law requiring all protests near Parliament to have police permission is "ridiculous".

They have been applying individually to protest in Parliament Square next week to create more work for the police.

The Home Office says the new law is necessary for security reasons.

Under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act, all types of demonstration held within half a mile of Parliament, must first get the permission of the police.

The exclusion zone, which has the full support of the police, is in place for sensible security reasons

Home Office

It was initially prompted by anti-war protester Brian Haw's five-year anti-war vigil outside Parliament.

He is still there, albeit with far fewer signs, after successfully applying for police permission. It had been argued that a bomb could be left under the signs. ............

................. But comedian Mark Thomas, who has organised next week's demonstration, said it was ridiculous that one person wearing a badge in Parliament Square could be arrested if they did not have a licence.

"They can be fined for being opposite Parliament, the home of our democracy, with a badge - and that's nuts," he said.

"If the government and police are saying there could be a terrorist threat unless they get terrorists to licence a demonstration to be there, that's patently absurd."

Protesters queuing up for licences to demonstrate at 1800 BST next Wednesday included pro-cyclists, anti-war demonstrators, people calling for free tampons on the NHS and "Goth pride" protesters.

Police suspect that this man may be the ringleader;

I think you need to take your anti-depression meds.

People die every day. People have died in worse ways before.

The world is not diving into a social hole, alla the Foundation series. We are digging an economic and political grave, but society is doing fine atm.
