Long Maps

Is it possible to create maps which are extremely long road like in mad max 2 ?

Its possible to create pretty long roads, but there is allways a limits.

Yse, but it's difficult. Would this be for some sort of mod, or for CS:S, HL2, or HL2M? It'd be easier with a mod, because if it was large/driving themed, you could alter the unit scale, and make much larger maps much easier.

well, if you are making a sp map, its quite easy. just use multiple levels, and you can have a road of infinite length. otherwise, the longest straight road you can make (from corner to corner in hammer) takes the buggy 53 seconds to scale.

Unless you mean having the map spawning back at the start of an earlier section.

The reason why I wanted long roads like this is because I am creating a mp mod

Well scaling things down is a definite possibility. As I said in another thread, VALVe stated the only major drawback is less accurate physics.

well, lets see. a map file with this is about 3 mb we'll say. say you have 100 gb space, that means you have 102400 mb. so you can fit about 34100 maps on that. times 53 seconds and...
... you can have 503 hours of driving madness :cheers: if thats not infinite enough...
edit: sry, im a little OT, yeah, for a mp mod since its driving changing the scale should be fine :cheers:

rofl... 503 Hours. Good math.

It's almost worth ~40 GB for one mod just to have the space to drive around for hours on end. Then you just need a big fat city around it and you have GTA. Edit: ON STERIOIDS, obviously.
