For machinima project.

I'll be using a variety of locations, which I'm attempting to make myself, but it turns out my mapping skills are shit. I don't have the scope for large-scale environments.

What I'd like is a nice long, fairly straight city street. A handful of side alleys, shop fronts, tower blocks, that kind of thing. It's gotta be long, but not monotonous. The ends can either curve out of sight or be T-junctions. I need to be able to have people walk up and down it for a good amount of time, and for it to be of such a scale that striders and vehicles can battle it out. My idea is to have the street innocent and commercialised first time around and then have it taken over and blockaded by Combine in later scenes.

If anyone could knock out something like this I'd be extremely grateful. I can't pay or anything, and if it doesn't look "right" I may not use it, so if you like working for a minimal possibility of reward then this is ideal for you.

If a fully complete map sounds like too much effort (and it already does to me), then the most basic untextured geometry layout would probably still be better than what I already have. It's very hard to create a long straight road that has variety to it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You can email me at [email protected] and if you want to see a VERY rough draft of a short scene, go to:

TBH mate nobody is gonna make a map for you.

You have to do it yourself in this game - unless you get a mod up and running in which you all chip in with different skills. Someone will do the map if you chip in with the textures, models or what have you.

Yeah you're probably right, but I'm a lazy bastard and there ain't no harm in asking, right?

Alternatively, are there any sites where I can download a variety of .vmf maps to play with?

Thanks, I must try that. Right after setting my Blindingly_Obvious Override to "default".
