the preload is Hl2 only, thus every preloader is the same.

DoD:S won't be out for a while, so that shouldn't be discussed.
As for HL:S, I think we'll hear someting about it soon.

No, it's not.

If you use the Steam's backup tool and ask to backup HL:S you'll get more than 2Go in the backup.

I pretty sure that HL:S is already preloaded.

what you have got to remember is that the sub games such as CS:S and DOD:S and HL2 have shared content ie the source engine if you back up the HL2 preload and CS:S stuff its about 4.5 gb and if you just back up CS:S the file its aroung 1gb and if you just back up HL2 its around 4gb so i would say its just the shared content

There is something wrong with the backup thing, it stops at 4.0 gb, cannot backup anymore. If you back up hl2 (like said before) it takes a lot off the cs source, and hl source space because of the engine, i think it is still buggy though

How is your hard disk formated ?
If it's FAT32, I think it cannot have files bigger than 4Gb.
