Dear Lord...I mean, fuh, uh, what the he-#$^@$#%^#$^!!!
How are you nerdy enough to be a mod and have NEVER watched even one of these movies? Go watch it now.:dork:
Anyway, looks like I'm headed to the 12:01 showing on the opening day. :D
Thought I'd add that critics so far think that the last one is phenomenal.

Im trying to wangle some local 14th december press screening tickets... ;) just like I managed to see The hulk 1 week early in a press screening :P

The real question is, did simmo not see the first, or the second, or both!? lol

Everyone should read the book once they have finally watched all three movies. There is so much stuff missing from the movies thats in the book.

Thats how it always is. Starship Troopers is another example. The movie was good but it missed a whole crapload of stuff from the book and changed a lot of the philosophy involved. IE, the book was about personal responsability, while the movie was about how bad facism was.

Stop shouting at me ;(

*simmo runs into a corner shaking*

ANYWAY...I did watch a bit of the 1st one tho, but I turned it off because it got boring :|, but I cant really say that because I was in a bad mood at the time ;)

I was walking round looking at everything thinking, "eh?" , "wtf?" "Whats this ?...oh"

second one is called The Two Towers, and third of course you know. and while you're there get yourself a copy of Debbi Does Dallas, you'll need it after staring at those orcs for 3 hours *shudders*

You should get the books too, they are a bit different from the movie, but togheter they are over 1000 pages to read :P

Seven!? I thought I was good when I read it at the age of 10.

It was the school copy which i read along with the hobbit... They both took me took me about a year to get through reading it in half an hour spurts once once or twice a week so i wasnt as advanced as you believe.

That last time I read it was on holiday in greece this year. It took me just a week to get through and I had another 2 weeks to go without any reading material so i bought Micheal Chriton's Andromeda strain... unfortunately i ploughed through that in a day... :(

Wow! thats absolutely amazing! wish i had that much computing power :P

Simmo do yourself a favour and only watch the extended editions of the films. Those extra scenes add so much more to the films and bring the story in the films much closer to the original story in the book!

Ya it took me around 1-2 hours a night for a month to finally finish the whole thing. Recently I read it again and it took me like 2 weeks of on and off reading, although it wasn't as good since I knew everything that happened. ;(

Have I finally found anouther Heinlein fan?

Personally I think teh films are a masterpeice just for what they have done to the book. Lord of the Rings is brilliant as a piece of descriptive writing and the creation of a coherent world but as a narrative it is, franly, a bit poo. To take that and make it into such a good film is commendable. I pour scorn on those who fear spoilers. You should have read the book even if it is (imo) rather average.

I hear there is talk of "the hobbit" so this may not be the last movie, even though it is going to end the trilogy or whatever, i loved the first, never seen the second i need to though, plan to watch the third... never read any of the books except for like the first chapter of the hobbit eh' i'm to lazy to read...

Just finished watching "Fellowship of the ring"...and...MY GOD! what a great film!!, I cant wait until I watch "The two towers" :D

I HATED the first one so much....Two Towers, I loved.

Which version? the theatrical or the extended?

The first one seems to drag...or something. I didn't like it that much.

Second one was AWESOME!!!!

Can't wait for the third one!

The extended are the only way to go imho, they are the films that PJ wanted to release, but Newline objected to the length. I expect once the films have all been released, that they will start showing the extended editions at the Cinema at some point.

It sure does, helps to developer characters more, and much better paste for the film that long (good editing).

i agree...you get to see a lot more little things that were left out of the theatrical version.

there are many more extended scenes, imo...at least ones that are important. the only real extended scene i remember from fellowship was the gifts of galadriel part...the rest was just random stuff.

in TTT extended, most of the added footage is memorable...at least to me :P

FOTR's extended edition is cool, but not entirely necessary for aspiring fans. However, the TTT extended edition is a must for anyone into the movies as it adds so much to the experience.

Anyone wathed the EEs with the cast commentary on? LMAO at Dom's (Merry) and Billy's (Pippin) commentary. :D

I have the Fellowship extended version...I'm probably gonna get the TT extended for xmas. Read all 3 books and the Hobbit.

IMO...after watching TT, Fellowship was kinda slow and boring. When I watched TT for the first time...I was baffled at why they added things that didn't actually happen and end the movie too early..I wanted to see the next part...which happens to kick ass in the book.

I'm pumped for the third. If they change the ending of this one...I'd be pissed...but I doubt they will. I'm pumped for the battles especially..and to see Gondor.

EDIT: Anyone know the running time of ROTK? I've heard different things.. 3+ hours...2.5 hours..anyone know?
