EDIT: Anyone know the running time of ROTK? I've heard different things.. 3+ hours...2.5 hours..anyone know?

The final cut is 3hr 25min and 10 reels in length.

To touch on what someone said earlier in the thread New Line are looking to buy the rights to 'The Hobbit', which are owned by united artists I believe and Peter Jackson said he really wants to do the movie.

IMO...after watching TT, Fellowship was kinda slow and boring. When I watched TT for the first time...I was baffled at why they added things that didn't actually happen and end the movie too early..I wanted to see the next part...which happens to kick ass in the book.

I'm pumped for the third. If they change the ending of this one...I'd be pissed...but I doubt they will. I'm pumped for the battles especially..and to see Gondor.

Wait until you see the Extended edition before passing judgement! The theatrical edition of TTT feels truncated and its pacing is totaly screwed up in places. However the Extended edition just flows so much better and the changes they did make seem to make so much more sense.

They have made a change to the ending of ROTK in that there is no scouring of the shire at the end. For fans of the books this is unfortunate but for film reasons this would have meant that the film may have been another 30-45 mins long and Sauron would have been defeated around the middle of the film. For the pacing of the film PJ has already said that this really wouldnt have worked. I have yet to see the film but im willing to bet he's made the right decision.
