I am really stuffed.

I formatted my hard drive and i backed up my whole steam directory including my HL2 GCF files to my other drive

However when i open steam its downloading HL2 all over again. I mean its pre-loading it again from 0%

Please... can someone help me here? I dun want to dowload it all over coz i am on a capped isp.

I still have all my GCF files in the other directory... How do i make steam detect it?

Any help please..

-Much thanks

Ma3

Shut Steam down. Copy over the gcf files from where you backed them up to and re start Steam.

Boohoo...

u gotta help me...

I copied all the gcf over and started steam again

its still at 0%...

if i preload again ill never complete it by the 16th.

Ill be capped...

please... someone... heeeeelp

I found out why... its made another program directory in my F drive instead of my C drive... can someone help me as to why its doing this? coz i installed the game into my C drive and i ran the exe from the C drive.

How do i change the directory back?

Okay you say that you have them? Turn off steam!!! Then go to your C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\ and where it says your account name put all of you backed up .gcf's in there

See HERE

I lurrrrv that SEARCH BUTTON!

I think i know what is wrong... I copied the STEAM Gcf files from F: drive (backup drive) to the C: drive (my newly formatted drive).

However, when i ran the steam engine from my C drive it made a program files directory in my F: drive and STEAM directory in my F: drive and is running it from there.... =p

How do i change it so that STEAM will run from C: drive where it is supposed to?

Its really weird

I'd take a wild guess but try reinstalling Steam on C drive.

i decided ill just run STEAM from my Backup drive (sigh).

It works now.... thanks guys... gave myself a heart attack.

I just have to live with running steam from a different drive.

Its better than losing all my gcf files
