did not help much either - I do not have AA or AF on.

Ok, I ran 3DMark 2001, and got around 8500.

My specs follow:

AMD Athlon 2800+ clocked at 2.08ghz
1024mb DDR 2700 ram
GeForce4 ti4200 standard clocked
ASUS A7V600 motherboard
80,20,3 gig hd's
cd rw
mouse, keyboard, etc

I hear of people getting 17000ish in this bench, I obviously do not.
What I know it's not:
AA or AF - I am sure that this option is off. In the 3dmark settings it is off, and I made sure it was off in my display settings.
My hardware - As you can see from the specs above, its not a shabby rig.
Gfx arpeture - its set at 128mb, I confirmed that through software and bios.

What can I check, step by step, to see what I can speed up?

that is not low....

that is average for that card... my mate has a barton2500xp and a ti 4400 and has 9000 3dmark 01

peopel getting 17000 have a better gfx card e.g. 9700 pro 9800, 5800,5900 based gfx cards...

3d Mark only benches your gfx. That is why they are getting much higher, nothing is low.

haha, ur test is fine
those ppl cheat there tests, - vsync off, and other things.
standard testing , with my first computer, with vsync on, i just above 9000, vsync off i get 12000+

the 17000 was a guess on his part by saying "about" and hes talking out of his arse there is NO way NO WAY AT ALL that he can get that score on a ti4200...

no matter how good his memory, processor, motherboard etc is...

ignore that post your score is right for your card...

all vsync does is links your fps to your refresh rate on your monitor...

the "average" benchmark tests are dont at 1024 with AA off AF off and vsync off...

but you cant really call it a benchmark because nothing is ever the same for each test!

"A standard by which something can be measured or judged"
Taken from www.dictionary.com

"A standard"

each pc setup is different... e.g. they may have there fsb set a 266 or 265 or something...

there ram may be 300mhz... but a cas latency of 2.5 or 2 or 3...

the PC's tested on are never the same... the processor can be 2500xp or 2600xp...

the specs of the PC's arent the same so the benchmarks arent "A standard" they are different each time...

so you cant compare your gfx card to another unless they are run on the same pc... just changing the gfx card over...

Screw benchmarks... screw them up there stupid benchmarking asses!

(has had enough of benchmark this benchmark that...)

Yes - I understand completely, in the end its how the game looks to each individual player; but I couldn't very well be satisfied with 8500/17000 now could I! :D

im not happy about my 4900 on my overclocked geforce4mx440 but the reason is the old gfx card... the same reason yours is 8500 which is right for your gfx card... if u want to brag about benchmarks get a 9800pro 256 meg... then watercool it and overclock it... and the memory
then buy a 3.2gig intel have the fsb at 800 and watercool and overclock that... then get 1gig of ddr400 ram... and overclock that... hell watercool or at least ramsink it... and a SWEET nforce2 motherboard... then you will be pushing AT LEAST 24000 3d2001 marks... (i reckon)

Listen. Forget aabout all the stupid scores your getting in these "benchmarks" Just worry about the actual performance in games.

I'm not worried. I just got 7800 with vsync off! har! Games run fine - I'm just curious, that's all. If I want to find out how things work, I need to fiddle with them. Thanks to all!

For all you people out there, with a 2400+ and ti4400, I used to get around 11k, and with an Athlon 1.3 ghz with the ti4400 (now secondary system), I get ~7500. His scores ARE low.

And 3DMark03 is the gfx-dependent one...01, while gfx dependent, relies more on the CPU, etc., than 03.

I get 12000 Marks with my G4 ti4200 64MB with V-Sync on and 10999 marks with V-Sync off. Odd huh?
