low aqua mark score

i get 7k, on comp i built

on my old comp, which i bought, i got 34k

old comp specs

p4 1.8ghz
512 sdram
9800pro

Built comp

p4 3ghz
1gig ddr
980pro

my games run fine, just low scores. i hear dthis ay be due to the steps of installation (os,updates,drivers) is that true. is there nayway i can fix it without a compelete reformat

err scratch that, i just di a run, i got 38,777. oops. btw, what score do i need to run hl2 in high settings
