Well after getting mentioned in that "superpowers" thread, I decided that lucid dreaming deserves its own thread (even though its been done on this forum several times before)

Who has tried/can lucid dream here?

For those of you who don't know, lucid dreaming is the ability to know when you are dreaming, and then interact with the dream as if you were conscious. It's very exhilerating and worthwile becase:

A) It makes dreams much more vivid and memorable. I mean, when you really do all the techniques its unbeleivable how vivid and realistic your dreams can become.

B)You have the potential for complete control of a world. It's like having a video game with amazing graphics and you are the lead designer/coder and artist, except you don't have to do any actual work to create content! Go wherever you want, do whatever you want to do, be whoever you want to be.

C)It has great theraputic value. Usually your brain uses dreams to rejuvinate itself and come up with solutions to problems it has over the course of the day. With lucid dreaming, you can speed up and amplify this process by manually overcoming your worst fears, examining your greatest desires, and releiving stress.

D)It's easy! With the proper training, anyone can lucid dream. All it takes are a few reality checks each day and in no time you'll be exploring the world of lucid dreaming. It's free, its painless and its fun.

wait....what is this craziness???

You're awake while you're dreaming.

I think :O

I think it's like, you know you're dreaming, so you change the dream.

thats really weird......
I'd like to have a dream tonight where I boil up a big pot o' bacon and feed it a flock of rainbow colored sheep that dance to yanni while constructing a bridge to space without putting a dent in the king of switzerlands shiny new red slightly used automotive transportative machine. the color green tastes good.

Lucid dreaming is awesome, flying is possibly the best thing ever.

I've only had a few lucid dreams, but flying never, ever, ever gets old, I still want to try magic (Fireballs and stuff).

i used to lucid dream randomly when i was a kid... i would realize i was dreaming but i wouldnt wake up, and i didnt know what was going on so i got real scared and just spent alot of time screaming in my dream trying to wake up. then one time it happened i realized i could simply control the dream and boy it was cool.

I've had a few lucid dreams in my time. Mainly they involve me being in the real world but i have shrunk. So i'm in my bed but the bed is huge! Then some wierd shit happens but i've never really tried to do anything awesome, but i was controlling it.

it has happend alot of times for me, however it ends about 20 seconds after i realize im dreaming. Or sometimes im stuck and i cant get out...its horrible. Its often a horror dream and i cant escape, i know its not real so i try to close my eyes and weak up, but i cant weak up, and whatever is scaring me is coming closer and closer, i try everything, hitting myself, biting my toung, nothing will make we wake up...only consentrating really REALLY hard to weak up it will work.

Just hate it...terrible

I think if I had a Lucid dream I'd go on a raping spree

Heh, I don't know how, but I used to know how to wake up when I was a kid, and still do... it's kind of just something you "wish" for, then it happens.. hard to explain

If you read the site it is possible. You just train yourself. I can do it but dream recall is a bit of an annoyance.... like I was intending to 'go lucid' last night, but I didn't really concentrate/was too tired and it went strait over me.... I was biting my fist in the morning.

Btw. Fireballs are cool... although lightning ala Oblivion style is a lot more fun. :)

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I've bean having more and more of those, "waking dreams". If you don't know what that is well: your mind is awake but your body isn't and you often experience horrifying hallucinations. I've had quite a few of these and it's really becoming a nuisance because I can't get a decent sleep for the fear that it could turn at any moment into a waking dream. Your body is paralyzed and freaky shit happens around you. Worst thing about it is that it's so real that you think you're awake and you really are seeing and feeling this shit.

Are they paying you for this advertising?

I've had a few lucid dream a few years ago. Wouldn't mind having one now :), but I would probably have to think more about lucid dreaming to "provoke" it.

I remember that in order to confirm if I'm really dreaming, I checked my watch. In the dream, instead of numbers, the display showed a bunch of changing nonsense.
