Luckly i haven't bought any videocard for hl2 yet

I used to plan to buy the ati 9800xt bundled with hl2 but we know that hl2 won't be out within the next 5 to 6 months. by the time, there will be graphics card better than 9800 in the market with maybe cheaper price.

1) The worst case is 5 months mos likely. Although it may happen sooner there is no way to tell.

2) There are plenty of other new games coming out now that a new card will give you benefit for.

I personally will either by a new card on Black friday 9600 Xt or AIW Pro or wait until the new generation comes out and see if I can get a 9800pro or XT cheap.

If the next generation of cards is PCI Express, I doubt the AGP cards will drop in price much..

There's no point in just upgrading for hl2 if you're a real gamer you would have upgraded already for the new slew of amazing games coming out

PCI Express will mean a whole new video card and motherboard. It could possibly mean a whole new CPU and RAM. Screw that for a long time.

yeah, i'm a real poor gamer, i plan to buy hl2 and play the mods for the next couple of years, maybe buy few other games too. that's why it's important to buy a best card at the time when hl2 release.

I learned my lesson from UT2K3 with "two more weeks". Heck, I'm waiting to build an entire new machine, but won't start until the games are in stores.

There's really nothing out there for FPS fans, and Call of Duty is another WWII shooter.
Nope, I'm waiting till next year, when we get everything at once. It's either feast or famine. Think about it. We're gonna get HL2, UT2K4, and D3 at about the same time, then TV later in the year, and maybe Q4.

Two words Black Friday. If I find some super deals I will buy something then but if not I am going to hold out on everything but the video card. DX II is coming out Dec 3rd and I want to play it on a better Vid Card.
