[edit] i have no smooth groups on!

Look excellent, if a bit blocky. The stock could use some refinement, but since the player would never see it, it would be wasted polys. The front end of the barrel and triangle could use a few more polys, but it looks great to me. Can't wait to see it textured!

just a bit of smoothing and it'll be looking alright, though the ammo carrier looks a bit off, and the front sight post is annoying, I don;t remember it being that tall, but then again it's been about a year since i last saw a 60, so i might be wrong, overall looking good

The bullets are just squares man. Also the bipods are melded into the barrel, they should be seperated I think. Other than that great job cant wait to see this skinned and released.

looks pretty nice but you need to post a wireframe. i can see your main problem is the grill over the barrel... use alpha maps to get pretty much the same effect and then use those polys elsewhere ( bullets and barrel )

Hmmmmm, not too bad but i'm sure you could get a lot more detail from 4000 tris

WOW Thats pretty sweet :sniper:

lol ..just out of curiosity did you model the holes or are they part of an alpha.opacity map ?
other than that its a really well done model.

i modeled the holes thats why the tri count is so high i didnt like how it looked with alpha maps look for the released uvw maps soon.

It's an M249, like a baby brother of an M60.
An M60 is a 7.62 and an M249 is a 5.56, so, kinda like the relationship of the M14 to the M16

Actually the M249 is a modern SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) whereas the M60 is a vietnam war era machine gun. But since I don't want to hijack this thread I'll send you here for all the info you need: http://world.guns***/machine/mg17-e.htm

And that model looks pretty sweet, can't wait to see it in action ;)

Yeah that's what I meant. Similar in style, but less powerful and more modern.
