I was reading all over how people hate the M95 and i was at exactly 1000 pt earlier (i thought that was funny so i took a screenshot if anyone has any intrest;) and i was thinking what i should unlock and after i got 1 pt to ugrade i stayed on thinking about what to unlock. I was almost 100% on getting the DAO-12 then all of a sudden i found someones M95 and tried it out. I killed an entire squad of 5 advancing on operation clean sweep so i had to get the gun. Unlocked it, went into a game on karkand and got 16 kills and only 4 deaths in my first game with it which is one of my best kill scores ever (22 is my high with assault) and i played sniper for maybe 5 minutes total before this upgrade and hated it. The next game i got 12 and everyone on my team was picking up my kit when i died, it was pretty funny running around with everyone having the M95 when i saw on the score sheet they were Privates and PFC's.

I don't see why people hate the gun either. I've never used it but it does really good dmg. I swear, every time I get hit with it (if it's not a headshot) I have a sliver of life left and either the sniper hits me again or a teammate of his does and he'll get the assist.

Yea thats true too. In both games i had the high score in kill assists and sniper.

I've tried the gun, and i loved it, i could kill pretty well with it.
It's my next unlock. :)

that is the gun that i unlocked and within the first 5 times that i tried it i had like 60 kills and 20 deaths...although i have to say that it sucks at very, very long range but other than that it's great

the problem with it i that it has the accuracy of the semiauto snipers when it should in fact be more accurate and way more powerful than the US bolt action.

This thing should be a 1 shot kill with other things to balance it out.

No way. I like it how it is. It does really nice damage already. Would you rather have it reload reallllyyyyyy slow or be really inaccurate? I like how it takes skill to actually get the headshot (which isn't all that hard).

It should be one shot kill from the waist up. A .50 cal will make a small entrance, but it will shred your insides, and make a damn big hole on exit.

Well it would kill in one hit in real life...but this game needs to be balanced. If snipers had a one-hit kill from the waist up karkand would be sniper-city...and it wouldn't be any fun. Infantry combat would be completely lame.

well i'm sure there are many mods working on it at the moment. But i can think of a few ways to balance stuff out.

For example, all the standard issue sniper rifles can be fired effectively while standing, crouched, or prone. The way i'd offset the 1 shot kill power would be that the m95 is only effective while prone. it woud be deadly accurate, but you'd have to wait a bit between shots to fully stabilize your aim.

Another thing is that i'd give it a large muzzle flash, a much louder report, and a small explosive impact effect.

Considering the size of the gun and weight of the 50 cal rounds, the m95 sniper would feature a smaller sprint gauge than the standard sniper.

These changes would make the m95 sniper more effective in some respects while giving him the disadvatage of being easier to discover and more inept at CQB than even the regular sniper.

Thought it had a funny aim, only used it a couple of times, might get it on my 3rd unlock. I found that it didn't hit where the two points meet in the middle, but just under where it says 4 and 8, i found it was hitting on the 8 mark most the time, is this correct or am i going mental?

I dunno. I used the M95 when all guns were unlocked for a while and I was kicking ass. I found it easy just to stop real quick and scope your headshot quickly.

The unlock aren't meant to be uberleet, they just alternatives. Be happy that it has extra damage, it would have been fine if it only had that armored glass penetration.

can you guys get moving target headshots? i love to sit somewhere and track the head of some guy and try to get the headshot while he's moving... probably one of the hardest things to do in bf2

I heard that some American soldier in Iraq had a M95 and spotted an enemy that was in some kind of tower, he shot a round and the guy got cut in half with the legs on the ground and the upper body still up in the tower...

I got to use on it once on a server, killed two before a tank spotted me and blew me into pieces. :p
It was pretty cool, but not something I would use much.

I tried tking a guy to grab his kit from him, but lo and behold, the kit was no where to be found.

It does penetrate armored glass. In fact, it's the only weapon in BF2 that does (well, I guess you could "penetrate" armored glass with an AT rcket as well :p).

AmishSlayer, you said it's easy to stop and aim for the head. You're talking about still or moving targets? Because for me it's damn hard to shoot running targets, especially in the head, as not only you have to aim well, but be lucky enough to have your ping matched to the opponent's, so that the enemy's head is actually there, when you shoot.

I'm currently deciding whether to inlock the M95 or the PKM.

Most of the medium range/close range fights I've had with somebody when I had the M95 played out like this

We spot each other
We both stop
Enemy goes prone and starts to shoot
I scope in and cap his head

It's harder to get someone on the run of course, but even when they're running you can still land a hit or two on them if you don't want to go for the head.

PKM hands down. Picked it up a couple of times and its great.

I was wondering what I wanted to get...
The M95 seems great. Shoot thru heli glass. Best way to stop them from trying to kill you! ^_^

The anti-tank unlock. Just because that's my most used class.

The support unlock. Just because somebody said that you can take down attack heli's and blackhawks with it. Not sure if it's true, but maybe someone can lemme know frmo here.l

You shoot from a standing position? I thought it would be inaccurate.

You can take down Heli's and Blackhawks with the normal support weapon anyway, just gotta hold down the trigger and not overheat.

How long would that take?

What I usually do is hit them in the chest with the M95, then hit them with the pistol once.. that way I get 2 points for a kill and not just 1 for the assist.

It's still accurate as long as you weren't sprinting or jumping right beforehand.

I just got my 2nd unlock and chose the PKM. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. At work :(

Ok what the ****. I unlocked the m95 and it blows hard ass. I can't shoot anyone out of the cockpit. This blows.

well then you cant aim because i have shot like 5-6 people out of the attack helo and the blackhawk

Im guessing the chance to shoot pilots out of their cockpits wouldn't come along very often, unless you're camping a base with a heli pad, or a heli is capping a flag you're in. Seems like a feature that ropes people in, then they find out it barely ever happens.
My second unlock i went with the spec ops g36c, because with the new patch, you get points for taking out commander assets, and want to be able to do that, with a gun that i can actually kill people with in less than 5 shots. (regular Spec Ops guns are peashooters)

Well maybe my m95 was ****ing kaput because I was shooting a friendly in the cockpit of my helo on Sharqi like, 10 times, he didn't even get scratched.

well camping is practically the only thing that you can do that is productive for your team as a sniper, and another way to snipe someone out of a cockpit is if they are come straight at you or atleast a 15 degree turn from you (when they are in the transport helo)

Did you guys see this video? this guy call himself "God of Sniping" is the m95 really that powerful as this video shows?? I think the video was staged...

yeah, he says it's a training video but it's really just him showing off. most of it is infact staged.

That looks so fake. But what do you expect, him shooting down blackhawks and APC's...

Haha. Okay offcourse you can kill apc, jeep, blackhawk, plane when they are smoking, like you can see from that video.

the m95 is scarily powerful
going down to 2 bars of health on the battlefield is real scary especially when you cant find the sniper
