Does anyone know some ways to help control or reduce the heat of a Mac Book Pro?

I'm anticipating Steam being released on Mac but I'm worried about the heat from gaming damaging or shortening the life of my laptop.

Any suggestions?

just like any laptop, try and have it situated so air can get underneath it, ideally the vent should be the highest point so hot air naturally rises towards it.

tbh fans need very little to over come heat naturally rising so going against or with isn't an issue. What is something to avoid is using it on your lap, carpet, bed etc. Flat hard surface so air can move in general.

Also for crazy ideas... put a cup of ice water (in a metal cup?) next to your intake on the laptop. Will cool the air as it goes by the cup. :p
My dad actually does this for his laptop after he installed linux. For his particular laptop a non-windows OS can't control his laptop's fan. So the fan doesn't spin up and his laptop shuts down (without the ice water).
But then again his is an older laptop and this is a Mac ($$). Wouldn't want to spill.

Looks like we've got a case of...

/puts on sunglasses

/adjusts sunglasses
