first of all, "mac" is referring to the construction and architecture, so your comparing architecture to software. so ill correct your question and say "osx vs windows xp".
macs arent stable, even when properly configured. the fact that so many different and generally incompatible hardware vendors make parts (ram, gfx) for macs, cause software instability and make the whole thing a clustermuck of hardware, with little opportunity at customization. moreover, because of osx's dumbed down inteface, you cannot trace where the crashes come from in the first place. windows xp will ALWAYS tell you what program has crashed, and it will give you the technical reasons why.
not as many software developers create things for macs. why? poor, low performance, high cost solutions that no one really buys unless they have a REASON. one of those might be video editing, which is done well on macs/osx. the only thing is its done better on a pc with a p4 - and that will give you access to thousands more games, applications, and hardware choices.
apple makes outrageous claims about is processors. the dual g5 solution is the fastes pc in the world? garbage of course. http://www.barefeats.com/pentium4.html. Why pay 3000 dollars for a dual g5 when an athlon 2.1ghz pretty much dominates it.
from personal experience, editing newspapers and graphics on macs, i can honestly tell you that the things are shit.

I also have a Windows, that I rebooted last week.
I could bring up SP2, with the 200 programs it disables to.
Dumbed down interface? Windows will give shitinfo from a crash, and you can probably decypher it using google.
If you don't know how to find out what went wrong with your Mac, then I don't think you can find out what went wrong with your Windows-based computer.

Hey, heard of versiontracker? There is just as much software for the Mac as for Windows, except the viruses. If it's a crisis, you can use a emulator. But not on the windows, no no.
Well, a dual 2.5GHz G5 is powerful.
Alot more powerful then a highend PC.

I'm just pointing out statements. UNIX is more stable then Win, there is alot of more programs. Mac is faster then Win when networking on a Win network (take that, M$) and so on.
