Macmini.

It's a Mac lol. Actually looks kinda cool, not intended for gaming or anything like big performance, pretty nice really. I wonder if they'll make a PC like this (not Apple someone else).

that is pretty cool, sometimes i get the feeling tho, that mac don''t know whether theyre making portables or desktops, and instead just make inbetweens.

Not neccesarily a bad thing, just means i would never buy one

lookingg nice though...and yes they do ahve computers this size if thats waht you mean highend ones too

But you'd be paying a price. While the mac mini won't play the latest games, the fact that Apple have managed to squeeze a decent machine inside such a small, attractive area means is impressive. I think its clear that the target audience for such a product is going to be as a second computer or a basic day to day computer for browsing, word processing etc.
At £330 with all the software you need (Appleworks, iLife, OSX etc) it really is going to appeal to so many people.

Good price and specs, all and all. Anyone just wanting a simple computer, that would be good for them.

Apple really seem to be getting their acts together concerning pricing... A 1gb solid state MP3 player for £100 is a very good deal.

Wow $99 isn't bad at all, i don't like how it can only play songs in random order though, if it acted a little more like a real ipod it would be better. As for this Mac, the newest Maximum PC I just got had a thing somewhere in it about AMD releasing a little mini computer similar to that, although they're not focused on all the multimedia i.e. Ipod stuff like the Mac. The main goal I guess is to have 50% of the world connected to the internet in 10 years or something.

I like it and for a hundred dollars I might even think about getting one. I always though the $300 price tag of most mp3 players was ridiculous.

Oh so it doesn't have to be random cool. Not bad, maybe I'd consider one, I got a nice Sony CD/MP3 player for Christmas with a radio and TV/Weather band (still haven't figured out what those are for) and I like it but I guess being able to transfer songs to a 1GB Ipod is better than to a 700MB CD.

The iPod shuffle is kinda cool, but being a big music guy with a collection of 1500 songs and growing, I would much prefer to have my full-sized iPod, in all of its big screen glory.

The mac mini is cool, but I couldn't see myself spending 500 dollars on a system with 256MB of RAM. Even if it is a mac.

well macs can run fine with 256 if your jsut using it for basic use. and its upgradable to 1 gig

Mac should start lowering thier budget on the Comps and start focusing on/making atx micro atx cases. I think then they'd give microsoft a run for thier money.

In fact, I was talking to the Director of Product Management for Microsoft (my neighbor) and he said that microsoft just leeches all of thier ideas from mac. We were walking through the new mac store in AlaMoana (Really cool store. If you're ever in Hawaii, go there. Prolly got ones on the mainland) and he was telling me how microsoft should start making these.

Ah, I didn't see that it is upgradable.

And maybe 256 is fine for regular use, but why buy a computer for "regular" use?

:)

Especially if it's a mac. I've heard macs are great for image editing (photoshop) but you'd need a crapload of memory to work photoshop efficiently. I think i'm just happy with my works of art (lol) being on my pc.

I've really been wanting one of those mac LCD monitors though! First time I used one in a dual monitor config (one monitor half the screen, other monitor other half) at the mac store, my jaw dropped and I thought "I've gotta get this!"

because thats what the mini is more or less used for. i know lots of people who bought the new imac(mainly because i sell them) becuase they wanted to just do basic photography. and browse the internet safely. why end up paying a tech everytime you get a virus ro spyware ruining your system whenyou can save yourself the trouble.

if you want to get into heavy image/video editing just go with the imac g5. better faster processor plus a 17 or 20 inch lcd part of it.
