I've made a new character which is a Mage, the Magika doesn't recharge and the only way to get it back is potions.

I need 2 ingredients the same to make a potion, I found a mushroom with Magika and now I need something else, that is easily available. Any ideas, like a vegetable or something?

To your question, sadly I don't know either :(

However you can also use Shrines at the chapel to refuel your mana.

He went Atronarch, which gives him mana absorb and lots of extra mana ... at the expense of losing the ability to recharge mana.

Magicka recharges, pretty quickly too... if you are a mage DO NOT, choose sign of the Atranoch (which is the only reason I can think of that your mana is not recharging)

being born under sign of the Atranoch will stop your magicka from recharging, instead giving you a 50% chance of absorbing all spells cast on you.... sounds good in theory, and not bad for an anti-mage warrior... but not for a caster, not at all.

remake and choose sign of the mage :)

edit: damnit AiM beat me by a couple secs :p

I use the apprentice. The mage magicka bonus just isn't enough for me and it is easier to get rid or deal with the 50% magicka weakness ( I am a breton ) than having low magicka.

I win! :D

Actually I think it'll work well for mages, providing that you're remotely adequate with Alchemy and proficient with a backup weapon. Thing is, Atronarch also get +150 mana which combined with either Breton (+50) or Altmer (+100) will give the caster ridiculous amounts of mana to cast even the most expensive spells easily. Around level 10-ish you start encountering magic users which you can sit there and absorb half the spells while you + your summons pummel them.

Personally I regret having a Breton + Mage (should've at least went Apprentice), I have maxed out my intelligence / wisdom and I don't even have the mana capacity to cast the strongest spells :(

edit: Although once I get / craft some nice Fortify Intelligence I'll become unstoppable! :p

I think taking Atronach alongside magic-based skills makes for an interesting character. People are forgetting that you're playing to enjoy the game, not to make the ultimate instant win character.

Agreed, but a magic user that can't regen magika is going to have a hard time.

There are no problems playing an atronach mage. It just takes a while to prepare. I would do like I did in morrowind and wonder around making tons of potions for an hour or two every few quests. That was fine in morrowind. but it is just to fun to kill things in oblivion to stay away from it that long.

Thanks for the Church tip.

Yeh, I'm a Atronach Mage so it doesn't recharge. I'm trying to find another ingredient (except mushrooms) that adds Magicka.

It is really good though, with my Custom/Warrior I can do like 6 minor heals and it is gone. As this char I can do 20 flares at lvl1! Kill loooooads of Goblins!

Flax seeds are in Oblivion realm?
no flax seeds are sporadically around the landscape, usually near rock/bushy areas.

here's a better potion calculator

I think there is an alchemy shop in the market district of the imperial city, something like "the main ingredient" that also sells flax seeds.
you can also try near the vintners at Skingrad.
