I cannot purchase two copies of the game... one was verified on my card.. the other wont go through

it says it wont allow multiple transactions, as a protection against fraud...
(which makes sense)

the steam forums are down and I have no idea what to do...
I have two seperate steam accounts, but I use the same card for both...

UGH!

i take it your not trying to buy two copies of the game on one steam account?... theres no way thats gona work.

(edit: scrap that...im blind..didnt see your last line or two.
sorry dont know.)

try waiting a day or 2 and e-mail valve to query it. i doubt youll get a answer for a few days though...but hey,its not like you can play hl2 yet though is it

me thinks he not trying to use one account :p

nope of course not, as I said above "I have two seperate steam accounts"

in other words I have two pcs, with two legal versions of HL on them.

I was planning to add hl2/cs:S silver to each account

I was able to add it to my brother's (it just happened to verify his first)
however it is not allowing me to make my own purchase on my own damn account.

Well that sucks, but it does make sense.

I'll bet Valve will have some fix for this soon ...maybe have to call them with the details, or mail them etc. But I'm sure this is going to be a common situation for a lot of people and will be fixed on some level.

this is exactly what I get:

Credit Card Use Limit Exceeded
This Transaction was not processed because the credit
card below has been used too many times in steam

this policy exists in order to protect our customers from
credit card fraud. We will prosecure fraud to the fullest
extent of the law.

man, this blows knob.

make your brother pay for yours

How funny, Valve doesn't want your money. :D
apparently they only wanted half of what I was willing to pay.
heh.

ah well I guess if this shite carries on I might just withdraw the cash and have a mate purchase it.

its just silly that I would have to do that.
then again I appreciate the lengths to which valve will go to protect my cash.

I'm in the same seat ;( My friend's mom bought his game & then he logged with my account & nope it won't work. His got through perfectly. Of course, the first thing I tried was to ask my dad if he could do it for me. Guess if he's a total noob/jerk & won't let me because "it's not safe" to buy stuff over the Internet (although he has done so millions of times himself.... ARGH! stupidity at its peak). God I hate my family right now.

So tomorrow, I'm going to the bank & own some bitches (pardon the language. I'm upset). My Maestro Mastercard shall from tomorrow officially work online. One step closer to freedom (out of this house & far off into the world kinda) :) Wish me luck.

Hey -- better that they're careful about this kind of thing.

In this case. **** no ;( I know it's safe. I've done it multiple times through my friend's mom. Got stuck in customs once. I trust Valve. Dad should too. But I won't try to talk some sense into him (as if that's possible).

It's not a case of you trusting valve, it's a case of valve trusting random people over the internet when identity theft is on the rise.

the reason I am buying his is, he is 16 years old.
so thats not feasable

it's so frustrating when stuff like this happen. it's always the good people who suffer from what the bad people do, just like with piracy. i have a few friends who said that the farcry dvd didn't work on their systems because of it's anti piracy software, and everyone knows that pirates don't even need the original dvds to run the game!!

on another note, do u or anyone know FOR SURE if anyone who buys from steam can get the cds/dvd or not? in the beginning when sierra was to be responsible for the retail distribution of hl2 (remember? in the beginnging the retail sku's were gonna be hl2 sp only, hl2 sp and mp, hl2 ce) valve said that if u buy from steam and still want the cds and box u can still have them (pretty sure about that, sorry can't seem to find the qoute, it's an old one). so is that still the case or not if anyone know? it could be that, that collecter's box in the gold package includes the goodies plus the dvd (at least i hope so, that would be cool). :imu:

No. You buy from steam, you don't get a retail box.

What you CAN do is buy a retail box and just enter the CD key in steam to unlock a preload.

You can also burn the content files to a CD/DVD for backup.

DAMN! My company spends all a steam abo to all worker but THAT too many time shit doesn't allow it...

UGH!

just wanted to help out Mr. Redundant :)
theres another thread on this topic and i think a few forum members have mentioned something about allowing only one transaction per day to avoid fraudulent(sp?) transactions which were happening with CZ when it was released.
anyway u should be able to make the second purchase later today i think :)

How awesome is the new album!

Reise, Reise rocks!

Lesson learned: Always buy your copy first!

At any rate, I'm sure there will be an easy solution, something as simple as calling your credit card company and authorizing the transaction.
