Man saves security guard, video games credited for heroics.

That doesn't change the fact that he's a hero... and I did take the title directly from the linked thread.

/me scratches head in confusion

but no one is saying he's not a hero ...just that video games had nothing to do with this

His MySpace website talks about his love for metal music and computer games.

So if I had a fond love for scat porn, would it be credited if I saved a group of nuns from being raped by a one legged mexican?

TO THE SCAT MOBILE!

This is nearly as bad as reports saying video games make people kill people. Reporters need to realise that just because somebody plays video games, it generally isn't the main reason they do stuff.

That wasn't said anywhere by reporters actually, it's just the title from the linked thread.

The linked articles aren't the actual news articles; they're just pointing out that the actual articles don't say anything about his addiction for computer games (OMFG GTA WTF KILL IT WITH FIRE, COUNTER-STRIKE: HALF-LIFE: KILL JEWS WITH A RUBBER DILDO), they just said he was an IT-consultant.

The game sites then laughed at the irony of the news articles. That's it :p

I think the point was that while the guy did something heroic, the video games didnt get a mention, but if the guy did something awful, they would have been. Hes also saying that in both cases, video games wouldnt have affected the situation, because video games dont have that kind of influence. Its just that when something bad happens, everyone is quick to point out that he played games (despite it having no actual bearing), and when something good happens everyone ignores the games.

clarification: the guy who got shot was a purepwnage fan, and that's his picture -- Adam -- at a LAN parteh.
