..Looks very much like that other gun in the e3 2003 tech demo. Are both guns in the current build? Seems kinda pointless.

The manipulator is the gun that glows orange and picks up objects. The other one (blue beam) demonstrated the physics (i don't know whether it's in the final game).
This has been covered before....just search the forum.
(welcome btw!).

Blah blah blah, yes correct ok bye.

Welcome, to the greatest hl2 forum that EVER LIVED!!!!!11

In the interviews, one of them says that they are 2 different guns and (I think) both will be in the game.

A few months back Valve said in an e-mail that you get the blue ray gun at first, and later it is 'upgraded' to the manip.

Different guns, Valve said a long time ago the blue beam was only for physics testing but it may make it into the game. We have to wait and see.

I'm helpful.

Really? 10 characters my ass

Yup, you get a basic version at first (welding, etc...), then later you get the full-on maipulator action! :)
EDIT: It's in the info thread somewhere - about 3 months ago i think

Actualy Both guns are diffrent.
And both guns will be in the game.

The Manipulator jettisons objects.
The gun wiht the blue ray Moves things and welds objects together.

The manipulator at first cant pick up very heavy things. But then you upgrade it to pick up heavyer things and to jettison them further.

thats pimp, i mean cool...... thats cool :p

In response to the first guy:
Just because they look similar doesn't mean there can't be two. Especially if they do completely different things.
That's four total physics interactions possible (welding, lifting, shoving, pulling), rather than just two of them.

I second this! :)

that would be cool if we get both, and each worked in different situations.

I've always heard that the 'blue ray' gun wasn't in the game... and I sure as Hell don't remember reading anything saying it was. I do remember, however, the statements about the manipulator being able to be upgraded to pick up heavier objects.

i think i owned your ass in CS couple of hundreds of times..

i m curious about what kind of welding puzzles they will have..
level 2. weld yourself a buggy

What? I never saw this eMail, and I make sure to read any new info in that thread if I possibly can. Could someone quote it? I'll go do a search, too.

For all you ignorant people, the "blue ray gun" goes under the name The Physgun, probably because it was used in the physics demo. In either way, refer to it as The Physgun, please, thank you.

And; I wouldn't be surprised if welding (Which I've heard from beta people should be cool) is in the final game. Anything else would leave a big hole in gamers when you WANT to be able to do things, and you know it's possible, they just "removed" the feature.

Searched on "manipulator". No matches to what was said in this thread.

I know, I tried searching for about 1/2 hour too ... i'm sure it was there, tried searching for manipulator, physics, upgrade, and others but no luck. But it was definately mentioned somewhere!

Ehm...? About the welding... So does this mean you can weld a chair, a table, and a refrigerator together and then lift them all together?

Yes you can weld several diffrent things together.
You can also weld objects you your buggy.

I'll be sure to put a toilet and a sofa on my buggy. Why? I dunno... :bonce:

We aren't sure you can weld yet Mr. Man.

But if we could then you are correct in welding basicly anything to anything.

Could someone give me the link to that video where this "physgun" is seen in action because I d/l source video because I thought that it will be in it but it wasn't.

What source video?

And if you are refering to beta content that is not allowed here.

DL the techdemo portion of E3 2003 video.

No it isn't illegal one its in the hl2.net video section and thanks. That is the techdemo I was looking for.
