Wretched Abandon Needs Mappers
Are you a skilled mapper whose talents are going to waste? Do you sit with Hammer open pondering what to create? Have you feared your work will go unseen and unappreciated?
If you answered “Yes” to any of these, then read on and forget the corny introduction.
Wretched Abandon is a science fiction tactical shooter set to breathe new life and atmosphere into the world of online gaming. Imagine the realistic player movement of Battlefield 1942, the realistic weaponry gameplay of Counter-Strike, and the tactical team classes of Team Fortress, then blend together with a completely fiction science fiction setting and you have Wretched Abandon.
Wretched Abandon takes place in the year 3050, in a world far different from our own. The tragedy of pollution and over population has lead man beyond Earths atmosphere and onto the surfaces of both the Moon and Mars. With advanced technology cities and new worlds have been set up. Each world far different from the rest is left to thrive on its own, some much easier than others. With ongoing political feuds, market back stabbings, and corruption of greed and violence, war is at hand.

Earth: Drastic changes to man’s home planet have occurred over the last millennium. It all began with a population explosion. In order to house the dramatically increasing number of humans every city on the planet began to expand.
As the population continued to increase so did the cities. It eventually arrived at a point where much of the Earth’s land surface was populated with dense urban environments.
This bought on countless problems such as a lack of resources, pollution, organization, and of course the still increasing population. By this time technology had also taken great leaps and bounds.
A new form of energy had been discovered by scientists. This energy was capable of mutating and changing matter. After much study and engineering the energy was built into Atmospheric Processors, which allowed man to live on both the Moon and Mars.
As man moved away from Earth a new system of government was employed. Earth was decided into a giant grid with specific leaders governing each section. This system did not last long.
The Moon became a popular location for the highest forms of power and Earth was essentially abandoned. The governed grid locations crumbled under crime, and instead of being ruled by political figures sections of Earth were now ruled by large gangs, terrorist groups, and worse.
The world now is an urban nightmare. Violence is commonplace, chaos and anarchy rule, and every day could lead to certain death.
Moon: The Moon was the first location to be chosen for expanding man beyond Earth. Once an Atmospheric Processor was set up it gave the Moon and atmosphere. Apart from the lower gravity the Moon now resembled that of Earth in its earlier years, a beautiful land. Work quickly began to set up high tech and expensive cities. After these were constructed, work began on setting up a same system on Mars.
The technological disaster on Mars caused much confusion and a change in government. The new government order issued the Moon to be a home only to the rich and powerful.
In order to fool those outside of it that they may get in a “Purity Test” was issued. This test was believed to check a human’s background, letting in only those who have no history of violence or crime. This test was a lie.
Instead, the Moon only allowed in the rich and powerful. With a belief that those with more money were greater than the poor, the Moon was named “Eden Moon”. However, things are not so perfect.
The Atmospheric Processor set up has caused countless problems, such as the deaths of those who wander too far out. Strange phenomena are occurring. Corruption and backstabbing in the Moon politics is thriving. Security measures are being breached with people (including enemies) illegally arriving on the Moon, and high tech weaponry and equipment is being smuggled out. The citizens are growing restless; they know something is not right.
Mars: After the Moon was establish as a working city the next choice was Mars. After the Atmospheric Processor was set up there was a change of plans as in comparison to how the Moon worked.
Instead of waiting for the entire planet to be processed, they waited till a small area was livable and set up a supply depot. Until Mars was completely processed it would be used to hold technological and food supplies for transport to Earth. As a result Mars is home to the largest space port in the solar system.
With the area of livable land increasing work began on building cities and homes, as well as mining stations. When approximately one third of the planet was processed an unpredictable disaster struck.
The Atmospheric Processor suffered a major explosion. The explosion leaked out toxic energy in a large radius around it, and prevented it from processing any far further. It was still capable of keeping the currently processed land stable. This disaster lead to bizarre weather conditions such as frequent ice storms and acid rain.
A frightened and confused government abandoned work on Mars. Mars now serves as a home for those who desire to live an isolated life. Mars still serves as a trading port.

Wretched Abandon offers a rarity to players, and that is a chance to play in a science fiction fantasy world with realistic elements. Players will choose from one of the three planets to fight for, and then one of six classes. Each class is designed to interact deeply with both friendly and unfriendly classes, and the environment that surrounds them. Each class is designated specific weapons and items. Weapons must be fired and worked with in a realistic manner; burst firing, iron sight aiming, and more features. Players will move in a realistic manner, from going prone to short sprints, each of these effecting accuracy and other factors.
Each planet/side will compete on each map to complete multiple side specific objectives. With the completion of one sides objectives a specific opponents objective may become harder to complete, or easier. This increases the level of interaction between sides, each fighting for their own (and sometimes similar) goals, yet finding them all tied together in a sinister web.
Wretched Abandon is looking for talented mappers to work with the team in creating the both tainted and beautiful lands. Mappers will be able to let their creativity run wild as the create locations such as the dry outskirts of the Mars city, an abandoned factory district of Earth, the town plaza of the Eden Moon city, and a few special locations such as a space battleship and space station.
Only the highest quality work will be used, we do not accept second best. Therefore knowledge of Hammer is extremely important, and just as important is the creative mind behind the tools.
