Seem's pretty clear to me.

so i cant ask about the displacement mapping? i cant tell people how to get cameras and monitors working? i cant speak of the best methods for using normal maps for detailed walls and shit?

BTW you're not a mod or a figure of authority, you sir, may suckle my phallus.

i guess u should rename the thread to satisfy those people, mmmm, well not for them, for me :-) i want to discuss it, mapping is cool! hl2 is cool!

yeah, I'm pretty sure you shouldnt talk about the hammer2 editor

but as far as normal mapping goes,, that's done in modelling programs,, so if you use tact you can talk about normal mapping :D

and lemme save you the trouble,, pass that phallus over here :p

so if you wanna apply a normal map, do you choose the normal texture, the greyish texture or the blue-redish texture? i know that the blue-redish one is the actual normal map, but i dont know if you simply apply it or need to apply the normal texture and use an overlay for the normal map...

Discuss away, get yourself banned. Don't say I didn't warn you. You're clearly an asshat anyway.

yes u use the blue one. When making watrr in hl2 you apply the bump mapped water texture to a brush then change the brush into a func_water just like hl1.

Unless the info comes from Valve (Not via the theft) then you cant talk about it.

Quick question. Would it be allowed if you found out about it (by yourself) legally?

Well, if it was legal, then it would suggest that Valve had released the information, either over the internet or someone visiting.

Basically, dont talk about stuff that Valve hasnt said its ok to talk about.
We cant allow any unauthorised info on the site.
If you are just guessing at stuff and its speculation, then thats fine.
