Marty is a liar

I wonder if hes read through this thread, if so good job buddy  I wish there was a emoticon for teh middle finger. Ha now someone run along to hl2fallout and ruin his forum life there by telling everyone what he did

Thehunter1320 logs on as his mother to inform everyone on HL2.net that he's in a critical condition, and later on shows up in chat rooms with other forum members and voila, busted.
How does that permit a ban?
That just seems like a childish joke. What's the big deal?

@ User Name

well if you think things like this aren't a big deal (toying with peoples emotions/boy crying wolf acts) than a ban is not a biggie either now, is it?

well... what sane mother would log into a game forum under her son's account to inform his internet friends about her son's situation, which was very uncertain at the time of posting. When I read it I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor attemt of attention seeking.

quote: " I have absolutely no idea if he'll be okay or if he's dead right now "

please..... :flame:
It has happened before, I think on the xbox forums someone in the Mechassault community died and his brother posted about it.

I request that the HL2.net staff notify HL2Fallout and any other HL2 communities of his actions and any info they might need.

Ya get what you deserve

WHERES THE ROFL SMILEY?????

AHHHHHHHHHH THAT MADE MY DAY SO DAMN FUNNY! HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

okay maybe it is plausible for a relative to post under a deceased person's account, and I'm sure it has happened somewhere before. But the way it was worded would not be coming out of a mom's mouth. Not one mom would say a thing like " I have absolutely no idea if he'll be okay or if he's dead right now" and jolly post this on a forum instead of attending to her son's needs. That's absolutely ridiculous.

yeah ^^

i would have beleived it maybe if it was his friend or somethin.

Already done

Okay, I must have missed the drama about all this so let me get this straight: Marty (aka: thehunter1320) pretended he was dead...
I can't quite begin to understand the mentality behind that, not even a little bit.

However seeing as he lied about his rather permanant condition, I hardly think a ban will make any difference to his frequenting these boards.

no. el Chi, forums ban your ip address, so its kinda like a perma ban, unless he registers somewhere else. but whats the point, he wont be able to log on on his own computers.

If it was me I would have just said: this is his brother, my mom just called me and told me he was in a car accident blah blah blah I thought I would say something since he visits this place so often. Im on my way to the hospital, we ask for your prayers.

Too easy...

I cant stop laughing at this fool, ha he should be banned from every forum in teh world.

I don't think he deserves ban, but only for a few days. I mean he really did no harm, just was being a dumb kid. I mean honestly, just how many people are emotionally attached to strangers on the internet? He certainly isn't attached to you all from the post he made.

Judging some of the PM's I got for seeing it for what it was and banning him. I'd say quite a few seem to be emotionally attached to him heh.

I know you can IP ban someone, but surely that will apply to only these boards and seeing as he was pretending to be dead (it requires laying low to be convincing) he wasn't going to visit too much anyway. Unless he was using a different name - entirely plausible, but at the end of the day I don't care.
What a very peculiar person he must be.

Then like I said, the feeling was obviously not mutual from the looks of his post.

Obviously.

However, we didn't know this before we found out he faked it, did we?

The people who are unable to see why a ban is the right action to take:

This community is just like having a group of friends in real life. I know it is hard to relate to that, what with all the communication being done by typing and avatars, but these forums are a meeting place for many people who would consider each other friends.

When you piss about with someones feelings in real life, especially friends, the chances are they won't want to talk to you for a while, if at all depending on the severity. And in this online community the only way to do that is to ban them.

This is not the sort of way to behave, be it online or in real life. Some of you may not see this forum as seriously as others see it, but rules and regulations need to be set, and punishments carried out when these are broken.

I don't usually rant on here, but this is ridiculous behaviour and I decided to air my view (albeit repeated from other people) on it.

Well said. I don't really know how to elaborate on it, you said it perfectly fine.

yeah now i understand what happend and i hope the guy with the cancer is okay... i got confused as i missed the Marty thread and i apologise.

What he did is completely out of line and Murry_H summed it up perfectly. I think we've all done immature things before that when looked back on you realise really are pathetic.
I hope he is banned until everyone forgets this stupid incident and he can come back, i know i've done dumbass things like this, not on forums but in real life and we should forgive him eventually.

Someone on DiabloII.net forums did this a long time ago...

Anyway, I hope he made some good money off that dare, or that was just stupid...

Hah, "Marty" I applaud you for a well done troll, and slap you for not covering up your tracks well enough.

In an age of iron-fisted moderators (not a diss, just an observation)and people actually trying to be "nice" on forums, A well executed troll can be a brilliant social experiment.

But, you got caught, now not even dogs will piss on your grave...

I fully support the ban. This guy pulled a horrible prank. Being dared is no excuse.

I agree, most people will come up with the phrase, " If someone told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it?" Same principle applies here.
Now I really hopes he gets hit by a car and when he does come telling us about (If he gets unbanned), no one will believe him because he'll be like that boy/asshole who cried wolf.

That's not right either.

Poor Dr. Freeman... always confusing people... :p

That's thenerdguy!

This seems like such a silly thing to do, can't believe hunter would do something like this......

That said, I think a ban is a little harsh. So he didn't get hit by a car. Whatever.....not that big a deal really if you ask me. This may sound crass, but I wasn't losing sleep over hunter's "injuries." Etremely distasteful joke really.....nothing more.

Horrible, sick joke.

I've actually been part of a forum where a member actually died, and there was solid proof too.

maybe if he came here and had said he was dead it would be different. people do this all the time on pbn, its not a big deal to more then 75% of the community and to the handful of people he was close with let him take it up personally with them, he doesnt deserve to be banned for pranking an assload of people he doesnt know.

If he didn't give a damn about "a bunch of people he doesn't know," I don't think that it would matter to him that he was banned...

Besides, its only 'till HL2's release, which will hopefully be soon. :D!

Yo Igneri. Isn't your sig about twice as long as what's allowed? Just a heads up.
