Heres a new thread to talk about Max Payne 2 without chit-chat about how youre 13 and stuff.

If you dont have it yet , get it! His voice (one of the best parts) is the same as the first one , plus they say MF alot , which is not in itself cool but means they (the makers) dont pull any punches for the sake of Political Correctness. Graphics are awsome , physics are awsome. The most fun part was the werid Play House , especially where you shoot the ball and knock down the paint cans!

Supplement: Also the AI is pretty damn good. Its not as easy to go around and blast everyone like the first one. I find myself really being challenged at certain points. (The Vodka bar for one)

Vladimir (the Russian mobster) is my favorite charecter for both games. A gangster with honor , Godfather comes to mind. (and no Im not Russian myself , read Rainbow Six to get my screename :p )

They hardly cussed at all in MP1. I think they said shit once and son of a bitch like twice. Lol, I remember hearing "fricken" a lot.

I doubt it's anywhere near the level of The Getaway though. That movie had more violence and cursing than Tarantino films. It had a great plot though, felt like playing a British gangster movie.

Never got to play that one , definetly wanted to though. Commercials were cool :p

I plan to get MP2 this week, dipping into the cash I saved up for HL2.

I hope my PC can run it tho.

Dimitri, What are the recommended system specs for the game?

NO SPOILERS!!!!!!!!! STOP POSING SPOILERS, THATS THE SECOND TIME! READ THE STICKY! Closed.... argh, wish i was an mod

EDIT: well, since ur posting spoilers... is the story better than MP1 and how's that "Bullet Time 2.0" technology

I want this game so bad x( Gonna have to wait a couple weeks before it's released here... but OMG it'll be released like RIGHT on my birthday :D:D Muuuuuuuuuuuum!!!

The story is about as good , little cheesy or uninteresting at first but it defientely is looking up. Bullet time is about the same but a little more polished. Also I didnt think I posted any spoilers , I havent even gotten far enough to see any. I reread my post too...

One question. Are there wound decals? I was watching the video and it looks so dumb when a realistic looking dude gets shot and you see some blood clouds, but their body is totally unaffected.

Yeah, no wound decals. I would have liked to see some though. The game has lot's of violence and blood, lot's of bad language, very mature themes and realistic ragdolls. But no pain decals? Ah well, it's not really important I guess. You probably be too focused on the physics to notice thier absence :)

I cant stand the fact that there is no multiplayer...
and dont even feed me that "we just couldnt put Bullet time into a multiplayer scenario" thats so sad it hurts.
heres an excellent example of how slomo can work in MP, and its a mod... for the Half-life engine... http://www.specialistsmod.net/
(the best mod period actually)
I mean, I expected Multiplayer... I was literally taken aback when I found there was none present in Max payne 2...

it feels like ... max payne... looks like max payne (except max payne, who instead looks like George bush jr.) sounds like max payne...
in all honesty it feels more like an addon, or high poly model pack for the original rather than an all out sequel to the first game.

and Im not flaming the game for no reason.. I loved Max payne...
but the state that MP2 was released in makes the choice between a purchase and a rental very clear.

The story is much better than the first. I'm running with everything on as high as possible at 1600x1200 and its amazing.

The Bullettime 2.0 is different in that when you kill someone while in BT time slows down just a bit more. When firing upon large groups this is invaluable since you get not only a visual but auditory confirmation of a kill as time slows a bit more. I think it slows down until you kill 4 in BT, then time doesn't slow anymore. Ragdolls RULE! It's awesome to kill someone leaping toward you and to have their momentum carry them realistically through the air or to throw a grenade around a corner, only to see a guy flying through the air two seconds later. All of the cinematic in-engine sequences are flawless.

So far, it's got my vote for PC Action Game of the year.

Umm, I never played the first max payne, and I consider myself very good when it comes to first person/third person shooters(3rd person, an example is freedom fighters). But DAMN, this game I had to quick save and quickload alot cause i'd die far too easily on the easiest setting. more so than any other game i've had in history.

But, I did beat the game in six hours. Not very long in my opinion. I like Mona alot though :bounce:
