After a prolonged silence, Take-Two name-checked the series again during an earnings call on September 11, 2007. "In addition to Grand Theft Auto, our roster of million-plus-selling, wholly-owned brands includes BioShock, Civilization, Midnight Club, Max Payne, Red Dead Revolver, Manhunt and Bully," CEO Ben Feder said. "We fully intend to leverage these products, which are on development cycles that should complement and counterbalance each other." (Emphasis added.)

Nor did the publisher's deliberate ambiguity stop an analyst from asking CEO Straus Zelnick about the game in a post-earnings conference call today. When asked directly about when the Max Payne--which is currently being adapted into a film--would reappear in game form, Zelnick dodged the question--but also left a tantalizing hint. "In terms of Max Payne, we will sell no wine before its time. It's a little early to comment on any particular title," he said. "But we have a lot of interesting things going on."

OMG PLEASE I NEED ANOTHER MAX PAYNE!!

It won't be made by Remedy, and that alone greatly hurts it chances of being anywhere near as good as the first two games. They plan to focus much of their future time on Alan Wake and it's briefly mentioned episodes. Not bad news in the least though, as that game looks incredible.

Max Payne 2 was excellent. Hopefully the next title won't suck.

Sorry to hijack the thread but is it just me or has there been absolutely no updates for Alan Wake for about a year and a half? Whats going on with this game?

Remedy is being extremely tight lipped about it's development, as I'm sure they don't want to spoil many of the details. Much like Valve, they're keeping the release date to "when it's done". Brightfalls.net keeps it's FAQ pretty up to date depending on when new info pops up:

Rest assured though, the game is still very much in development.

Cool.

As awesome as the first two games were though, I don't think more of the same is going to cut it today. Might even be a good thing if Remedy aren't in on it, another studio with the right stuff could give it a breath of fresh air, and as long as the story and (most importantly) narrative are in keeping with the series I wouldn't mind too much.

Also...

Refresh my memory if I'm wrong, but doesn't Max die at the end of the second game anyway? I'm pretty sure noone here wants to see another Raiden/Nero scenario, and I don't see how a prequel could work.

nope, Mona died

Good stuff, Max Payne 2 was and still is imo one of the best 3rd person action shooters around.

Loved the first two games to bits. Hopefully they don't screw this up >_<

nope, Mona died
Oh yeah.

Not to mention everyone else.

I was probably thinking of the way he sees his wife's smiling face at the end, which is usually associated with a heroic death scene or something. It's been way too long since I played it...

Max Payne 2 was an awesome game. Hopefully the next one: 1.) won't suck; 2.) is longer.

I'm hoping they fix the stupid slipey sliding walking around for no.3. It looked stupid! The old bullet time would be nice too :)

There should be a sequel - at the end of the credits in MP2 it says something along the lines of "Max Payne will return". Same thing at the end of MP1 BTW.

Her body moves, questionable death.
In one of the harder modes.

She opens her eyes when you complete the game on the hardest difficulty

i don't see it being as good as the first two. in the first game, bullet time was the thing that made it so great. in the sequel the ragdoll physics made it great. what are they going to do with the third?

Max Payne 3........ I'D BUTCHER MY FAMILY TO PLAY THIS GAME.

Your family are these games.

Anyway, as long as they don't K&L it, I'll pray a little easier at night that it won't suck.

The first two are some of my favorite games ... but I worry about a third if Remedy isn't developing it. Regardless, we know Alan Wake will be amazing.

Only thing that puzzles me is

The only characters left alive at this point are Max and Jim Bravura

As I already wrote: Mona lives in the final comic strip after you complete the game on the highest difficulty. Maybe they will follow that plotline.

Yeah but that's just a maybe that they'll follow mona being alive

New characters will be introduced, relatives or/and friends of deceased characters will probablly pop up, only problem is this.

Max Payne 1: Based around Vengenance
Max Payne 2: Based around a film noir love story\
Max Payne 3: ??
It's gonna have to follow some sort of structure to make it rock.

we defo need another Max Payne, all good games need 3 installments... its THE rule
