Max Payne Flick

Wow, an independantly-made adaptation of a fast-paced action game. This will go over real smoothly.

Well, that Batman/Predators/Aliens crossover short was that and it was damn impressive to watch. So it's definitely possible.

I dunno. Half of me thinks that it could be better because it's done independly, meaning that the people care, but the other half thinks that we may just have anohter Uwe Boll on our hands. Max Payne is the type of game that would either make a great movie, or a ridiculously shitty one. It all depends on how it's handled, and if it's not handled professionally, it'd undoubtly turn into a festering pile of crap.

Well, at least the poster is nice.

Let's hope the movie rocks!

Can anybody find a pic of the guy that's supposed to play Max Payne

Well if its done with the proper storyline, with the awsome comic sense of the game, with of course the class slo-mo, dual weilding barreta action, im there!

Max Payne could look good with a sin city style. With less effects.

Looking at the production diary, they cannot spell 'roll'.

This does not bode well.

You can make budgetless stylish independent films, Memento, Pulp fiction, El Mariachi anyone? But, i doubt the director will be half as talented as any of the creators of the films i just mentioned.

They better not mess this up. Max Payne is awsome.

Edit:

Q: What's the estimated runtime of the film?
A: The film will be around 15 minutes long, but is part of a much bigger story.
Q: Are there any similarities between Max Payne: Payne & Redemption and Max Payne: Hero?
A: Yah... They both feature Max Payne, but that's about it. :)
Q: What kind of a release is the film going to have?
A: The film will be released worldwide online, free of charge, and at selected cinemas in the United Kingdom.

So 15 min? internet realese? Max payne Hero? What is this?

Yes, but the question is whether or not they can capture the awesome, action-packed, slow-mo goodness of the game on an independent budget.

The chances of that, I'm afraid, aren't too great. A Max Payne movie needs an experienced director and some good funding behind it, in my opinion.

I'm fairly sure this can be done on a relatively low budget, especially if it's shot on digital, which im guessing will be the case.

How independent are we talking here? Tarantino was able to make KillBill Vol 1 on a budget of 20-25 million( which is very low in hollywood terms) and he had big name actors in that film. I'm guessing if he had used unknowns and shot on digital he wouldve saved 5-10 mill. The point is that such a film can be made if the makers know what they are doing.

It would be if it was first-person. :p

I mean it is in spirit, kinda.

Massive action! WASD-mouselook! Pulldown weapons list! Platform puzzles! Explosive barrels! etc!

The main thing differentiating it from the FPS is the perspective, but more importantly the focus on gun-fu balletics which is made viable through the perspective.

I guess we should just call it a PS (Person Shooter).

Only 15 minutes? Damn, the entire short film should be in bullet-time then.

I guess we should just call it a PS (Person Shooter).

Or, perhaps, a TPS (Third Person Shooter)? Whodathunk.

I know. Where do they come up with this stuff?

This is disappointing.

That teaser sucked, Max Payne shouldn't be some shitty low-budget poorly-acted movie.
It should play out Sin City mixed with The Matrix.

I kinda thought so too. It was a great game and it should be able to be made into a movie that doesn't suck ass. If they're going to make it into a film, might as well up the production values and the cast.

a teaser trailer is out, didnt think much to the acting in the first little scene

Got a link to that trailer you noob? :)

Dont worry I know him ;) Don't ban me for sounding nasty. =]

It's endorsed by the guy that made the game, so it must be fine.

heh no conflict of interest there

so a movie based on a video game that's based on action movies ..so a generic movie about generic action movies? Why do they feel everything has to be made into a movie ..the plot wasnt all that strong ...not unless they take it to a completely different place than the video game ..which is a classic in video games circles but wont be the same in action movie circles

I would definitely say that Max Payne was NOT meant to emulate the typical action movie. It had heavy noir influence and a lot of mystery/horror and shit to it. Have you even played it?

I've known about this movie for a while and for some reason I don't have/never had any worries aobut it being bad.

Same. I have a good feeling about this movie.

The trailer needed the Payne theme track, not generic, "epic" opera.

This better not crash and burn worse than the Hindenburg

yes I have repeatedly ...ever heard of film noir? you know, the maltese falcon, double indemnity?, touch of evil? the big sleep? no? didnt think so ...

in any event I meant combat wise

that's a ringing endorsement right there! where do I buy advance tickets? in fact give me a half dozen
