Valve recently revealed that they had redesigned the four human characters of Left 4 Dead. Now MaximumPC have released 4 new screenshots of them in action! Also, if you haven't read their interview with Michael Booth yet make sure you check it out.[br]

Love it. I never really liked the original character models.

"easily distinguishable silhouettes"

Started by the guy who made The Simpsons and Fururama.

Maybe its just me, but it looks like the characters and weapons are less detailed then the zombies.

Great stuff, but im not a fan of the new way screenshots open up.

No srsly . l4d gets screenshots like every week and when it does everyone just acts like valve announced Half-Life 2 ep3 on the farcry engine

Actually, I preferred the tatood guy when he looked more like a Biker. Also, I prefered the 'nam guy when he looked more rugged. They just look a bit to clear/shiny/flat to me. And where's Zoey? :p To me

I miss the old characters.

^This, they all looked like rugged post-apocalyptic survivors, the new ones not so much..

Did they changed the girl? I hope they left her alone, she looked bad-ass.

I prefer the new characters. They look like they are straight off the streets, from their day jobs, and thrown right into the midst of it all from the get-go, whereas the older characters looked too ''prepared'', which I dunno, I'm not too fond of.

Source is starting to look old, even with all the update they do.

They could have pushed it a lot harder than they have with L4D. When they start normal mapping more and shovel in the new shadow tech beyond player flashlights is when we'll start seeing a real difference.

I really like what they did with Louis - to me it's as if he was caught off-guard after a day at work, and also reminds me of Shaun of the Dead.

I think the biker and the veteran looked a lot better with beards. Zoey I could go either way - except for the headband (lose it!).

Whoever the artist is did a really good job on the concept sketches though.

Great screenshots, I'm getting used to the new characters, it's definitely got the survival feel about them.

Seriously drop it now, every L4D update you post the same thing about Episode 3, it's really tiresome now. Episode 3 is in early development, it'll be here when it's done (and believe me, I wouldn't hold your breath). L4D is priority sure, but Valve have enough resource to manage both projects.

At least it looks like they're finally incorporating rain into the source engine.

lol at the first screenshot. He looks like an evil bunny.

These new models are excellent - a big improvement on the old ones. Much more convincingly real.

The veteran now looks like a disciplined old guy who has been biding his time polishing his guns, instead of just some random hobo. The biker looks reminds me of Bennett from Commando.

It actually feels like I've played the game after seeing so much gameplay footage now. November still seems miles away. The old guy with the gray beard from the old characters looked like a character from a Resident Evil game. Glad he's gone. Bit disappointed the rest of their time wont be spent on the game itself, just playtesting and polish. Was hoping may be for a few more surprises before release

This makes me wish I hadnt waisted all my money on a guitar and Obox.

God dammit, now the game doesn't look hardcore anymore. Looks like a little bitch game.

Awww, VALVe and their development process. I like these new characters more. They look like average guys thrust into roles they never planned for, using their pre-apocolypse skills to etch out roles for eachother.

I really don't like how I feel like I've already played this game.
Please, no more media. I want to actually play the game in November.
