maya 5.0 unlimited?

Is maya 5.0 unlimited good for games? or is it just for special effects in movies? And can you use NURBs modeling for games?

you can use it for games, some companies do. I don't know of any 3D games that are able to use NURBS directly though, but there's nothing stopping you from building something with them then converting to polygons. Their best use would probably be the high detailed model versions used for generating all the maps and details and generating the first stage low poly versions before cutting polys away to bring the count right down until your happy its low enough.
