Thats because the effects were so overused afterwards. Like lens flares after B5 used them, looked great at first but now everyone and their Uncle does it. So it looks crap.ukfilmer said:i know how it was made dude, it still isnt that amazing. its great yeah but it aint amazing.
b5 - Babylon 5. And Lens Flares are overdone, ask anyone in the business, any use of them now must be limited and very very careful, otherwise it ends up looking lame. B5 used them a lot, and they looked good.. then. But now people stick them on everything just for the fun of it, with no care or thought and well yeah overused. Like Arnold style renders and poser figures. Saturated the market with everyone using them.ukfilmer said:whats b5? i dont think lens flares are really overused.
call it what you want, if it wasn't for Babylon 5, most people would never have got jobs in the industry. Before Foundation Imaging came along it was a LOT LOT harder to get into the movies. CG effects was in its infancy and produced on SG machines with software costing hundreds of thousands, hardware costing even more. Foundation Imaging, Babylon 5 and Newtek's Video Toaster and Lightwave 3D made it all possible... You'd not be doing any 3D with the pro apps if it wasn't for them changing how CG was looked upon.ukfilmer said:bah! babylon 5 is a poor mans star trek
Heh a lot of sci-fi shows are crap, I agree.. and I considered B5 in the same light. But its one of those shows you had to watch in full to really grasp the little nuggets of gold. Then of course the well known problems toward the end, all the iffs and buts and maybe's. Netter Digital making a pigs ear of a lot of effects. All kinds of problems screwed up the show toward the end.ukfilmer said:yeah im just saying babylon 5 is crappy, even crappier than star trek i appreciate what its done for the industry as i hope to be in this industry one day i just dont like sci-fi tv shows
yeah, fun films, fun series tooBrian Damage said:Isn't tremors that thing with the giant underground worms?
