Maybe Im Just Stupid!

Ok I am an experienced mapper with Hammer...but damn I cant figure this out.

Upon getting Hammer off steam up and running, I made a simple map and executed it. The process ran with no errors, and said "Command" - "C:/...../hl2.exe"
and then +map "First.bsp"

so everything went normally, but then nothing happens! Shouldn't the game load with the map? nothing happens at all.

And might I add that I think its dumb that you need to have steam running to play HL2 and even EDIT LEVELS???

anyways any help is appreciated.

Did you copy the .bsp file to the right directory ?

Ok no I didn't try that, I;ve never had to manually copy before

is that what you have to do? Manually copy it over?

...yea. And to test your map, open CS and type: map First.bsp in the console.
