Hah, yeah, after the game is released. And that has a 2% probability--no, 1.

nope, doubt it, it theyre were it wouldent be hl2 content it would be a tech demo or new scenerio hl uplink type deal

but theres no way, valve said MAYBE post release demo, MAYBE... no simply no

Why?

Need atleast 10 characters, dont read this

Why won't they release a demo?

Because it gives away far to much information about the engine code. Enough, say, to make wallhacks or other such cheats.
God only knows how many hacks were made because of the Hl2 theft.

I seriously doubt that's the rationale... for one, if they knew of these possibilities they would have fixed them by now, and two, not releasing a demo would only act to delay it a few weeks anyway!

It's probably simply not to give anything away. :)

I don't think i've ever bought a game soley based off the demo experience. In virtually every instance i can think of i was going to buy the game anyway.

Is anyone else like that?

BF1942.

Played demo = Loved it
Saw Screenshots = Loved it
Saw Trailer = Loved it
Installed Game = WHAT THE HOLY HELL?

Gunman Chronicals - The forgotten half-life game!

Played demo = Ew
Saw Screenshots = Ew
Somone gave me the full-game = Earned its place on my shelf !

Gunman Chronicles was awesome!

Valve seem to have a thing against releasing demos, wavey flashback to HL with the day one thing, i think maybe they feel it sours the experience. Some people suggest that they simply send out the big room with stuff to play with in but i don't think we even need that, once the game is out the mappers can deal with that kind of thing...

BF1942 ruled!

hippy.

9/10 times a Demo has merely made me not buy a game.

ie. Joint operations
ie. any of the starwars/treck titles with the exceptions of JKII and Elite force I and II.

what happens when the release the full game then, how will that be different?

That makes no sense whatsoever. A demo does not give people any more info on the engine code than the actual game would. Cheats and hacks have nothing to do with them releasing a demo or not.

I think, if they release a demo, it will be the big room and the shader preview of the last e3 demonstraiton.

see my post, it's a terrible point, there's no demo because Valve doesn't want their to be a demo and that's it.

They just don't do pre-release demos. It ain't their thaaaang.

Valve said that it wouldn't come out a demo BEFORE the release date. But AFTER the release it MIGHT come out a demo.

I think the BENCHMARK will be released with the SDK at E3. That's it. Wait until tomorrow. www.e3insider.com if you can't go to E3, then go to e3 at home :)

i have to leave work now, E3 coverage left in the lap of the gods...what am i to dooo....:(

they aren't bringing leakable/working content to e3, just new movies.
