.mdl Importer

I was wondering if anybody might help me figure out how to import the HL2 .mdl files into 3DS Max 6. I know of that one importer that's on Halflife2files.com, but whenever I use it I always get a "Version 44 not supported!" error and it won't work. If there's anyway to just plain convert the .mdl's to something else, that would be ok too. Any help is appreciated.
 
Don't you have to decompile the MDL's into SMDs? MDLs are a collection of the model's parts, skins, bones, and animations, while SMDs are the individual parts. Few importers accept MDLs.

Ok, what do you recommend I use to decompile them, then?
 
Absolutely no idea. Milkshape was able to do the original HL models, but I'm not sure if it'd work for HL2.

Nope, sure doesn't, tried it already. Anybody else have a suggestion?
