mdldecompiler issues

I've tried searching for hours on a number of forums for the answer to the following so I'm sorry if I've missed it.

I'm trying to follow the "Importing CSS Weapons Into HL2" tutorial from the verc wiki, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to decompile the model correctly. I keep getting the error:

"Unable to load models\weapons\v_pist_deagle.dx80.vtx
No Reference Decompile"

I can't find any How-To for using this program, so could someone please help me?
 
have you extracted the .vtx from the gcf, using something like GCFScape?
Although I have never de-compiled any game models, I would guess the decompiler would need the actual vtx files, which are buried inside gcf archives.
 
Yes you need to decompile all files with the same name of the mdl you want.
Have you deon that? You can use GCF SCape
 
Thank you for that. It should've occured to me but the tut didn't explicitly mention it :( Been out of the game for too long mefinks :p
