I have an ingrown fingernail, which is looks really, really bad, and I'm trying to figure out if it's infected.

It's swollen, probably full of pus, there's a blood scab over it (ever now and again it punctures itself when I hit something, and it builds up over time). It's starting to turn white around the edges of the scab. Also, it doesn't seem to hurt quite as much anymore, and I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

If my description is too vague, tell me. I'll see if I can get a photo of it.

go to a doctor and they'll fix it for you, as wlel as tell you if its infected.
ingrown nails suck.

:dozey: Heck yeah, I used to get em all the time on my big toe, I stopped cutting way back, problem solved.

Pus: blood, serum, damaged tissue, white blood cells and bacteria found at places of infection or injury.

I'm not a doctor or anything but I'M PRETTY SURE that is a sign that something is wrong. Get it checked out.

I have a recurring ingrown toenail. It's a pain... and I keep forgetting to take my flucloxacillin :x

You might need a small operation to fix it. Possibly the nail will have to be removed. Go to a doctor.

Heh, what's with this forum and asking for medical advice? I've seen several such threads.

Wouldn't a medical website or forum be more appropriate and informative?

I have one too....it was bad like urs 17 years ago...damn im getting old... i have a fear of losing my nails....i really do..rather lose the finger...
I fixed it myself..this is very painfull but it will do the trick (my advice is see a doctor), i used a scalpel (had 1 in my rambo knife), made a cut at the sides, pressed every thing out, then good old alcohol straight in the wound. Wait 4 the swelling to go down, the take a scissor and gently cut the ingrown nail away. Then its easy to keep the nail down, doing this every week.
But yeah, u think ur in pain now, wait until u cut ur toe m8, i would suggest penicilin, a little more painless..

I was eating a home made breakfast burrito.

Now I am not.

Damn you to hell.

I have this rather large goiter on my neck should I get it looked at?

I had ingrown toenails on both my big toes, but I was "operated" for that, they removed part of the nail and killed the root at a point, so I don't have it anymore thank god...
