DANVERS, Mass. - Who knew "meep!" was a four-letter word?

The utterance favored by bungling lab assistant Beaker of "The Muppet Show" has been banned at Danvers High School in Massachusetts after students said it to repeatedly interrupt school.

Principal Thomas Murray says the word was part of a disruption planned using Facebook.

The Salem News reports that parents recently got an automated call about "meep!" from Murray. He warned them that students who said or displayed the word at school could be suspended.

Murray says the warning was needed because students didn't heed his "reasonable request" to stop the meeping.

Danvers High sophomore Melanie Crane says it doesn't mean anything in particular.

No wonder the U.S. is so far behind in academics. High schoolers are ****ing retarded. Never mind the fact that the principal went about dealing with the problem in a stupid way. How can we blame him? He's a product of the same retarded education system.

That's the best I can figure from the few articles I've read, plus a planned flash-"meep"ing that would disrupt class proceedings, which didn't end up happening. If I were the principal and I knew of a scheduled flashmob of any sort, I'd sure as hell keep it from happening. You got to keep the peace in your own ****ing house.
 
Ahah, sometime its sweet too cough loud when the teacher is talking but he cant even yell at you because you just say its just a cough!!
 
I brought a knife and brass knuckles to middle school, just in case I might need them. Suspension is awesome.

Nowadays, you'd probably be executed for it. Waterboarded or something.

Once my friend managed to stop an irritating old teacher from giving a speech by repeatedly clapping whenever she finished a sentence. Everyone else joined him in clapping and eventually there was no time left and she was only a little way through her speech.

how is the way he dealt with it stupid? From what i understood he explained to the parents what was going on and gave them the warning. Seems the best way as opposed to walking around the school trying to catch every student in the act and tell them "No!".

I initially thought this thread was about a principal who was banned from ruling over a school for being a dirty dirty homosexual, and MEEP was Willie's surprise noise after hearing the news.
 
As ridiculous as this is, I kinda sympathize with the principal. Once in high school I had to sit in a math class where the kids had no desire to learn anything and would ignore the teacher when she tried to get them to work on problems. The class was totally out of control. This was near the end of the semester so I felt bad that the teacher had to put up with that crap all year long.

Unfortunately for the principal, banning words won't stop people from acting stupid.

I was really mislead by the article, because I thought "queer" was referring to the fact that the principal was gay, so I was asking myself: is "meep" some kind of deragotory word for homosexuals?

THIS, I have seen stuff similar to this back during High School days. Oh how I miss those days. :LOL:
 
Censorship is wrong. Banning the use of a word is wrong.

This should have been handled differently. They should punish children who intentionally disrupt the class, regardless of the manner in which they did it, or the word they used, in this case.

The best way to punish them, is to give them a fun video game to play, then lean in next to their ear every few minutes and yell "MEEP!". They will never do it again, I say this with confidence.
